How strict are the searches / how many people are searched going in on Thursday morning / Wednesday night?

Obviously people do get drugs onto the site, and I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could find a fair amount of weed around the site.

However if I manage to get a cancelled ticket and go - I would rather take my own weed so I am sure it's not laced with anything etc.

I know that technically you aren't allowed anything illegal on site but I would be off my face the whole time, it would literally be the occasional afternoon smoke in the Greenfields.

I sound like a stupid kid, but then I'll be 17 - I am a stupid kid :(

Don't know how strict the searches are, but I personally wouldn't risk it. I know people manage to smuggle drugs n stuff in but I don't think it's worth potentially being ejected from the the festival.

I suppose if you were creative in how you hid it then you might get away with it. I'm not encouraging anything btw lol

bit of pot luck. I've never been searched, but friend I walked in with had her very carefully and very tightly packed rucksack turned upside down by 'searchers'. There a peeps on this site who have been searched everytime they come back on site from their CVs. However, as you say.... there are always ways and means - be creative, and concealing it about ones person in my opinion is the way forward!!

when I went in on the wednesday afternoon, about 40 people walked thourgh the gates and only 2 were stopped. and it didn't look like they were searched that much just get you stuff out your bag jobby. I think if you concelled a stash somewhere you'd have no probs. also saw no sniffer dogs at any point in the que at London que at castle cary nor the festi entrance.

I'm sure people get busted but the likely hood is minimal.

I have only been to one Glastonbury (2009), me and my boyf went through the gates at about 8am on Thursday AM. There were not many other people coming through at the same time and I got fully searched. They unpacked EVERYTHING from my neatly packed rucksack and very thoroughly searched every item I had in my bag. When I say thoroughly I am not exaggerating. If I had something on me and had not been very creative in where i had hidden it, I have no doubt that they would have found it. They checked inside all my socks, all the pockets of my packed clothes and even the lining of my clothes.

I think I as just unlucky though, it turned out that the girl that searched me was being trained and i suspect that she had just been briefed about the procedure and was told to search the next female that came through the gate - she had a man overseeing her 'work'.

Most searches I'm sure aren't that thorough and you would have to be unlucky to get searched like I did, but be warned that it can happen. Going through the gates at busier times will obviously reduce your chances.

I was the only person out of our group of approx 40 that got searched though.

We're going to be in the Campervan fields for the first time though the thought of regular searches does put me off - not because of the worry about being caught with anything but simply because of the hassle factor and the queues.

My friend got picked out for a search last year , but it was half hearted and they seemed to be

going thru the motions.

He had stuff on him , not particulary well hidden but they did not find it.

What I would do for anyone with herbs is not bring along papers and grinders etc , either give em

to a mate or buy them there. I was told last year a securirty guy was having none of it when a

girl said she was clean cos she had the papers etc in her rucksack !

:(

Yes - and no Rasta hats or T shirts saying Adihash, or ones with a giant picture of Mr Nice.

Make sure your eyes aren't like in those ridiculous drink drive adverts, and don't start singing "I wanna be a hippy and I wanna get stoned on mara/ marijuana..." as you reel past security in a fragrant haze.

Follow these sensible rules and you'll be fine.

You are way more likely to get searched at castle Carey Station than anywhere else, you have to queue up and they just walk a dog down the queue from time to time.

I don't know how accurate it is though, so many people carry so much, the dog must be going crazy, so really there is a lot of luck in it.

If you drive they have these tables where they empty stuff out, but I think they're looking more for glass than they are other substances, I just walk straight past them, like customs and no one has ever stopped me.

But anyway its very easy to hide a stash in a backpack, just use your imagination a bit, there are lots of things that would be a real hassle to unpack.

Also, lots of pre-packaged things can be opened and shut without anyone realising it. i.e. roll on deo and pot noodles. They know all the hiding places but you just have to make it too much of a hassle for them to check them, its basically a token effort to keep out the real dealers, just play along. lol
