Take a cold crate of beer that is all cardboard - box rather than tray if that makes sense. Once at your site, drink a few cans then soak the box in water. Find some newspaper, soak that in water as well and stuff as much as you in and around the cans. store in the shade directly on the grass / mud.

It won't keep them ice cold on a really hot day but it will keep them cool and if its not a really hot day they'll be cold enough for sure.

We brought a big freezer chest thing last year which I think was from COSTCO and it was called an Igloo. Froze our bacon and milk and just pulled out what we needed the night before kept everything cold from Wednesday to Sunday but must admit, was heavy to lug it onto site!

I second the red wine thing though! We're only taking a few cans next year and the rest will be red wine or mixers. Althought if you don't drink red wine often, start experimenting on what boxes are available then you're not stuck with 3 gallons of something you hate when you get there cos you didn't taste it first!!

Also, I ALWAYS take a little, one ring butane thing with me. I don't mind paying for Lunch and Dinner while there cos the food is soooo scrummy and so much choice, but I do begrudge having to walk miles in the mud 1st thiing and paying best part of a fiver for a weak brew and 1 piece of bacon on a roll :P You can just pop your kettle on to warm as you come round and watch the campsite wake up and then get your bacon going. Saves a tenner a day between 2 which can buy you extra Brothers!!!! Bonus!

We have a brilliant way of keeping beer cold. My mate who goes with me works on Tristars in the RAF and has access to dry ice. We get a big cooler and quarter fill it with cold water. We then take a slab of dry ice and drop it in instant freezer. Lasts for about 7 or 8 hours. Next day we do the same thing. etc etc Slabs lasts about 5 days if you keep away from water.
