Golden Circle at Glastonbury?

I have just been watching some shows from 2009 broadcast on the BBC when I noticed a division of the crowd (by a fence) near the mixing desk in front of the pyramid stage.

Never having been before I was wondering if this was a special area (Golden Circle) where only certain ticke holders could go.

It is just a long fence that runs across the field, it is not an enclosed area and is open at both ends.. it's there for crowd safety management

I think you will find it is just a crush barrier and that you can walk through, round, etc. . Would be amazed if Glastonbury considered a 'Golden Circle' of any kind.

it's just a crowd break, most places have them since roskilde, it's not manned and you just enter it from the sides

Golden Circles for tose that dont know is an area where people with severe special needs are kept for their own safety.

The best example of a golden circle can be seen on the footage of the Make poverty history gig. where some paid more to stand at the front with loads of spare space whilst the majority were crammed in behind. A two tear system that ruined the event for those of us that realised two tear systems were at fault for the majority of the debt.

If Glasto introduced a golden circle anyone who entered it should be pelted!

My only experience with that sort of thing at festivals was at T in the Park due to an irresponsible Ned who needed a pee!

While there is no restrictions on entering the front area it can be well nigh impossible to get in to, especially if there is a real contrast of bands playing consecutively

The entrances at either end are fairly narrow and two crowds trying to get in and out at the same time can be total chaos - with nobody coming or going

Especially if there are some burks sitting down on chairs in the middle of it!!!

If there's someone you really want to see - make sure you are there in plenty of time

I was thinking the same thing actually. I've seen some odd things at Glasto over the years but not a group of people pissing on each other.

some of my mates got pissed on at KOL at T in the P, I was a little shocked, never seen that happen at a festival before.. hopefully never again

There will never, ever be any sort of "golden circle" at Glastonbury. That is for sure.

Unless they build a special Monorail stop for it, in which case, there will be one. A really big one - for twats.
