Hotel in Shepton Mallet for Tues?

Hi Guys!

Don't want to get too excited yet but already planning every little details for next years adventure!

After last years nightmare 12 hour journey / traffic jam we want to drive the most part (From Manchester) on Tuesday night and maybe get a room in Shepton on the Tues night. Then we've just got the little queue into Worthy Farm on Wed AM

Has anyone done this and can recommend somewhere to stay? I've found travel lodge type places in Wells but, if doing all that travelling, might as well be as close as possible rather than queue from Wells on teh wednesday...

Is that true about the car parks? I would have thought they wouldn't want people sleeping in their cars..

Closest hotel is the Crossways at North Wootton, which is where the BBC radio bods and techies stay (TV types prefer the Swan.
