Total Cost of your Glasto Experience

:P So you have got your ticket and with months to go you start to get those festival vitals. But how much does the experience cost in total.

Im still in the 1st Fest kit gathering and its mounting up. I just wondered if anyone else has sat back and thought of the total expense of the trip and compare that to the experience was it worth the expense.

For myself I havnt quite got a total with 2010 being both my first festival as well as my first Glasto experience but already with the ticket, travelling, car parking, tent, bag, beer tokens, food tokens the list is endless.

Post your estimated totals for your Glasto trips so we first timers can get a sense of WOW as to how much its gonna cost us. :P

This ones for two of us but here goes - last year had to buy all our camping stuff so thankfully cheaper this year

Tickets 370

car parking ticket 10

Ferry with car 400.00

hotel night before 50.00

Hotel Monday night afterwards (so don;t have to worry about being stuuck in car park an missing ferry) 50.00

Alcohol to take with us 40.00

Money for when there 400.00 (minimum me thinks)

So 1320 for two of us - 660.00 each

And worth every single penny and it's for a whole week away for us (leave on Tuesday - go back home Tuesday)

Ticket £185

Car park pass £10

Petrol £80

Beer and food to take with £100 for 2

Spends whilst there £200 for 2 inc 2 x meals a day, Tues - Mon

Crap I'll decide I MUST have for this years Glasto and never use again (Useless torches, overpriced wellies, coffee maker for gas stove) £50

But I wouldn't even dream of adding everything up because you could double it and for me, it'd still be worth every penny! Killers, Pyramid stage, 2008!!!!!!!

Some great varying amounts coming through here. Since its my first one im just hearing the till going ceeeeerding and my card going ouch everytime I think of something.

I can live out of a small tesco bag if needed but decided this is about comfort and fun rather than survival and ration packs.

So I was gonna take the average and try and aim for that but with a few here hitting high numbers I think I will have to grab a few overtime weekends in.

Keep em coming there has to be a Mega roller here who maxed out.

Spending money for food/stuff etc £500

If it's any help I have a price cap of under a fiver for every meal and eat well at Glastonbury with things like pasties and veggie burgers coming in under that I can spend slightly more for an evening meal. I've been going long enough to not buy anything on the markets anymore, maybe a post card posted from the festival post office or two.

What I do find costs the money is the alcohol expenditure

I don't bring my own and much prefer the taste of the real ales, ciders, and organic wines on offer - this tends to burn a whole in the wallet though. Depends on how much you drink - but I suspect I'd save a lot if I could be bothered to take my own.

I used to go for the 3 stella for a fiver option whilst in the middle of a big crowd watching a band - but I've not seen them about in the last couple of years.

Last year i spent approx £130 at the festival in three days, have done a rough cost of what i expect to spend this year, will proberbly be there a day longer

Ticket...... £200 inc car park

Petrol ......£15...(Live nearby)

Food and Drinks £30 approx per day. (take no booze or food in )

New bigger tent.....£47 Bought new of Ebay three weeks ago.

I usually spend less though, but allways take about £100 more than i need, just in case. Never take any credit or debit cards, can't be bothered to waste time in long queue's. Use a money belt for cash

no idea, don't really want to think about it, but include my flight over from moscow (300-400 quid) car hire for 6 days, 500 quid spending money, tent, couple of hundred quid on supplies, hotels before and after and it's starting to look scary. Wouldn't have thought there'd be anything left from 1500-1800 quid.

but it's my big holiday of the year, so f**k it eh?

I treat glastonbury as one of my holidays so i always aim to do it with style and not worry about what im spending. I reckon with the ticket hotel, beers and bits before i get there is about £500 and i take the same in cash for spending. I have a glasto fund which i pay £100 into ewvery month. every year its empty, i did get a candle powered steam boat to show for it this year though!!!!

08 set me back over £2500 but that did include a whole new return flight for Australia and lost earnings.

To save some money for next year, I recommend buying your cider bus cider in advance (Burrowhill in case you are not aware of the name/makers). Its £3.50 a pint on site or £6ish for 4 litres if you order it online before the festy and have it delivered in convenient tankards to your house before you head down (obviously! :P )

Saved a blinking fortune this year!

Next year...got fingers crossed for going reallllllly cheaply!
