Hmm last year between 2 of us I think we spend about £300 over the weekend but we did eat fairly well, including an amazing meal at that restaurant in a bus thing.

This year god only knows how much its going to cost us, we'll be going in our 1965 VW camper we bought a few months back so we're expecting massive fuel costs (driving down from Leeds) and the inevitable large garage bill when it breaks down :angry

  • 1 month later...

i was suprised to find i brought about 200 to spend there and only spent about 120 thats buying my lunch and dinner and some of my alchohol, and bought some clothes and stuff. but i recommend taking 200 at a min anyway just in case :P

so i spent about 80 on booze and food to take with me

80 on petrol

200 on ticket

had a tent already and stuff

so it cost me about 480? and i spose if you needed a tent and stuff about 500-550

however id pay like millions as its the most priceless thing ull ever go to :P

Last year I only bought 4 or 5 drinks there, also got 2 free pints of Brothers thanks to their badges. I only bought two meals too, wanted to buy more but mate insisted on cooking. Reckon I spent less than £100 once there.

I did buy a load of beer and food to take with me, along with a new airbed, so spent another £100 there, and £40 on petrol, total was around £420, not bad for a week's holiday.

I am looking at around $3000+ US dollars for my 2.5 week vacation to Glasto and Europe. My plane ticket alone is almost $1200. Other costs $300 Glasto ticket. $300 Eurail 3 country pass. Chunnel ride back and forth $100, 10 days of overnight stays in hostels $300?, glasto coach $50, supplies, food, etc... Good thing my credit card has a high limit, I will worry about it when I get home.

If you have any ideas how I can save money please let me knowl.

Plan is arrive london tuesday and get supplies, wednedsay shuttle to glasto, monday back to london for recovery, tuesday london wednesday paris, thursday or friday head to barcelona, then to french riviera, then venice and anywhere else then back to london heading out the friday July 9th.

Venice is an incredible city, but not one to visit after Glastonbury. It is ridiculously expensive, especially as there are only a few supermarkets, so most of the time you will be eating out.

Come back and see Europe another time. Cejx is right about Barcelona, it is a beautiful city, with beautiful beaches on the doorstep, and an ideal place to recover from Glasto.

Don't expect to be up to siteseeing on the Tuesday, especially as you'll just be getting over your jetlag by then.

Noted.

Cost is an issue but I have a good credit limit, I am not terribly concerned with it.

I figure travelling for Glasto alone would be too expensive so I just want to see a few cities on the journey. London & Paris are en route to Europe so thats the plan to start.

I definitely dont want to haul my gear around i Europe although camping somewhere is a reason to do it though.

I havent looked into European flights yet, but i think I will take trains just to see things. Not ruling it out though.

Venice would probably be a one day stop near the end if I do. Same with the Riviera. I want to see the Mediteranean for sure. Part of my planning is to make a circle through Europe on trains. I need to see how much estimated time the trains eat up also.

Still lots to hash out. I am pretty sure on my arrival and departure dates though, what I do in between is still being figured out. Sounds like I am really ambitious.

One other thing about travelling to Europe - you could potentially get a ferry from Plymouth instead of the Channel Tunnel. Plymouth is a *lot* closer to Glastonbury than London and especially Dover.

Obviously the crossing is longer, but it might even work out as a reasonable price to get a bed on a ferry -- everyone appreciates a nice long sleep after Glasto. You can even sail to Spain from there.

Last year I didnt spend much at all!

Bought my ticket which was what, £185 i think?

Train fare was £27

I spent about £30 on stuff before we went, bought a few bits in poundland but had most stuff from the previous year.

My sister and I go together and buy stuff between us, which makes it a lot cheaper. We took 3 litres of vodka and some food with us, not much though.

I took £50 for the actual festival spends, and that was fine. I didnt buy booze there, and I made sure I had one decent meal each day. We had taken a stove and kettle so we didnt pay ridiculous prices for a coffee in the mornings!

The best thing I spent money on was my daily pint of milk from the van each morning :-)

I think if you take a lot of money, you can easily spend it, but if you're careful you dont have to. A tenner each day is plenty for food!

Def take your own booze though. I think I did have a couple of cheeky beers there but nothing beats a nice cold pint of lager mid afternoon!!

I agree its priceless though. Best weekend ever!!

As of now my plans after Glasto sounds like this.

Get back to london Monday, possibly get out, Tuesday all London. Wednesdayor Thursday Chunnel to Paris, train to Barcelona (long day) 3 days or do Barcelona Leave Saturday or Sunday to Cinque Terre for a day hike then head back to Paris then London leaving Friday night. 11 days sounds about enough, I think its managable.

Now I need to start booking rooms and buying tickets and stuff, at least for London and plane flights.
