and the meaning behind my comments/comparison with Jens last year was that i saw how you grew to appreciate what he was doing in regards to getting people into Bruce last year. If i recall, the first few pages you were calling him every name in the book, but soon enough, you, (as I and many others did) soon saw that it was a good thing and a great way to trade thoughts, tidbits, expectations about his upcoming set.

You've hardly hijacked this thread like Jens did (face it, he wanted to make clear that he owned the bruce thread .. if anyone posted anything, Jens HAD to respond) but you have undoubtedly provided more of the insight into possibilities than anyone else has on this thread, that's all. not a fanatic like Jens, but a noted bellwether for sure.

Jens only went to Glasters cause of Bruce. But he was such a decent chap despite this one dimensional attitude

God knows how many times Digi and HSCiderman have seen them play?! When you think about it on paper. U2 at Glastonbury has the potential to be the best gig of the year.

The music is one of the easiest things to discuss on a forum... and on eFestivals 90% of my posts are music related.

But the most memorable things about Glasters are random.

lmao you're not scarey at all, hun.. maybe a bit freaky, tho.. lol

I agree.. I hope they play songs that will please the masses.. cos last year during Sprigsteen it was awful seeing everyone leave cos they didn't know the songs..

I am looking forward to U2, I think it could become one of the stand out moments at Glastonbury history.

Last year was my first Glasto, just to see Bruce really, and he blew me away. I didnt think I'd ev er see a gig as good as that but U2 at this years festival could be just that gig.

Then Stevie Wonder could come and take over just 2 nights later. Its unreal!

I am in love with most of the lineup this year and there are so many GAY clashes but U2 and Stevie are my 2 definates, along with Florence and the Machine on the other stage.

Potential impact on touring for the wee feller. Im not a medical person but if you have neuro-surgery that aint that pretty at all right?

By way of cheering up my regular U2 geeks in this thread "Even Better than The Real Thing" looks like making an appearance at Glasters (if the band show up).

"Greetings, folks! I wanted to inform the U2 community at large of something exciting (for those of us involved) related to U2's June 25th Glastonbury Festival gig. In the virtual world of Second Life a group of friends and I produce a tribute band called "U2inSL". This production has been in Second Life since 2005. We produce virtually full-blown concerts created to replicate the real thing, complete with stage like the real thing and avatars who resemble the band. WELL, the exciting thing is that FOOTAGE from a U2inSL concert video has been chosen to be part of a video montage shown at Glastonbury during the "real" U2's performance of "Even Better Than the Real Thing". How do we know this? The media company preparing the backdrop film for the big screen has recently informed us of Principle Management's approval and also told us we may 'blog' about it. You can read more about U2inSL at our website, U2 in SL - A Virtual Band in Second Life. We're U2's FIRST VIRTUAL tribute band and now the world will see us!"

Unusual that they have pulled the first date so quickly but not mentioned anything about the shows coming hot on its heels. Need to watch this one closely, a U2 tour will cost a fortune to get and keep on the road so they will need to have a pretty good idea when Bono will be fit again before they embark on the tour.

From what I've read on the web the last while youre looking at a minimum of 4 weeks recovery time for any kind of spinal surgery.

Minimal invasive procedure = 4 to 6 weeks

Hardcore surgery = anything up to 12 months!

Why was the operation held in Munich though? I think they were based in France at the time. This will give us an insight into his condition. If the place in Munich is highly specialised then you can take it to the bank that Bonsie is in bits.

Unless they use Glasto as the first gig back?! I think you would have to say that the band are under serious pressure to cancel.

Somewhat ironically U2gigs reporting that 'even better than the real thing' was/is tipped to feature at Glasto with a tribute band video alongside U2

"One of the setlist changes may be the return of Even Better Than The Real Thing after a nine year absence. The Australian U2 Show, a (very professional and talented!) U2 tribute band based in Melbourne, Australia, have e-mailed their mailing list subscribers and posted on their website the news that footage of them will be shown on screen when U2 perform at Glastonbury on 25 June 2010. The Aussie U2 Show state specifically that "the footage will appear on screen with U2 during their performance of Even Better Than The Real Thing""
