Hiring a coach, drop off?

As various groups of friends have decided to join up for next years Glasto and there's now quite a few of us, I'm thinking it makes sense for us to hire a coach to drive us down on our own timetable and get us there for Wednesday morning.

If we hire our own coach for this rather than taking an organised See or National Express job where would we need to get dropped off and do we need any special passes etc?

Has anybody done this and can advise. Thanks :P

PS wonder what we'll all be up to this time in 7 months!!!

The best thing to do is to contact the Glastonbury office as early as possible, they may give you a pass for the coach park, which will save you a lot of hassle later on. I found the best way to achieve this was via email as the woman I spoke to last year when I phoned the office was a bit of a see you next tuesday.

If you don't get one before usually the people at the coach park will let you pick up and drop off from there if you ask nicely or if your driver blatently ignores them on the way in (there's a section for private hire coaches next to where the National Express ones drop off and pick up although nobody seems to know it exists until your bus is unloaded and the steward tells the driver he can pick up from there).

If you do end up getting sent to Bath Showground, as we did this year, chances are the stewards there will look confused for an hour or so about why, when they have a que of 15'000 people, a perfectly good and pretty much full bus has been sent there to add to it. Then they will eventually either radio down to the gate people to tell them to let you in or will give you a pass if there is one lying around. This isn't really what you want to happen though as it added a good 4 hours to our journey last year, due to the massive que each way.

Basically if you go with your own coach you will probably end up being dropped off on site, it will either be relatively quick and painless or it will take a good 4 hours.
