A mixed bag there:

Jay-Z - not my cup of tea, but a fair Friday Night headliner.

The Strokes - A bit of a let-down personally. I know they got album of the decade form NME, but that was a nine year old album and they haven't exactly set the world alight since then. Would have seen them more as a second or third billing act.

Orbital - again not my cup of tea, but a fair act.

Pink - Pop pap.

Blondie - A good choice, plenty of opportunity for a festival sing-along.

Squeeze - As above, but bit of a shame they are the Thursday night act, would have been more suited to a 'sunny afternoon in the sun' slot to me.

I think the main problem is, after last years lame line-up, Giddings really needs a couple of standout acts to restore faith in the festival, and none of these are it.

Im very surprised at the Strokes being named headliners after being away for so long still a very good act tho. Think this shows that next years festivals apart from Glastonbury might be finding it hard to book decent headliners. Jay Z is massive tho not my cup of tea but was very impressed with him at the Coldplay gig

Yeah i have to admit i got reeally excited when i heard The Strokes but i did think they would play 2nd down to be honest. If they play another festival they will play 2nd down on the main stage in my opinion. We are planning on going to Isle Of Wight this year for a change, usually go to V Festival but fancy a change as that fest is goin down hill in terms or organisation and over crowding hehe. I wouldn't mind seeing Jay Z either after watchin his glasto set

i think this could be the year I give the festival a miss, I've been each year since 2004 yet as much as I enjoy Blondie and Squeeze the headliners leave a lot to be desired.

Would The Strokes headline any other major festival and I know Jay Z headlined Glastonbury however if he is such a big act why did he support Coldplay last year, would he fill stadiums in his own right??? I belive he was excellent at Glastonbury but the debate as to whether he was a headline act or not was supported by the fact, that for that year , the festival did not sell out!!!!Hopefully next year we will see a return to the strong line ups of recent years!!!

In addition the ticket prices for the isle of Wight seem to have rocketed in recent years, yet the line ups seem to have weakened!!!!

Gud bunch of acts imo. Im not going but if i were id be happy with that. Not a jay z fan tho. Orbital and the strokes clash would be hell for me. Last time i saw the strokes was reading 2002 and they clashed with aphex twin then!

The line up doesn't really grab me, I'm disappointed but at least this year we know 2 of the headliners before parting with cash. We'll still be going, but I am going to have a good time, and the music is only one part of that. I'm sure there will be some good acts to be announced, but I do think The Strokes are a weak headliner, and i'm not into Jay-Z so on paper it isn't suiting my taste. As for Blondie and Pink- I'm just surprised they are where they are on the billing. Blondie will probably be good for a laugh, not fussed on Pink at all. Don't know much about Orbital TBH so can't really comment on them.

Not only did it sell out, it sold around three times the numbers of tickets that IoW needs to sell to sell out.

Did it??? I thought that was the year it didn't ( did it not sell out as quick as usual?), If wrong I stand corrected. The point I was trying to make is that the last couple of years this festival seems to have had headliners that would not be main stage headliners at other festivals and I think the same applies this year. I love the festival but would Blondie be 2nd to last on the main stage at V or Glastonbury? I think not, maybe I've been spoilt by what I thought we're great line ups 2004-7!!!

Jay-Z isn't my thing especially but he is a big act to be in that spot. I really enjoyed seeing The Strokes a few years ago but I'm just surprised they are headlining. I've never seen Blondie- and actually quite happy with the addition but worried that if she is the 2nd biggest act for the day that the rest of the day could be quite poor. Guess we wont know until the rest are announced. Didn't particularly enjoy Pink, but as mentioned by others it just worries me who will follow.

I'm optimistic there will be some good acts on the bill, but agree to a certian extent with Serridger that we went through a patch of getting really good headliners and the last couple haven't matched up.

Opinions folks, that's all they are.
