i'm guessing the higher sales are due to rage though. like me for example. i've only bought it to counter rage sales. without rage, it might have only sold half what it does.

The thing is, it shows lack of imagination and boring repetative Britain the fact that Cowell et al expects a number one. The fact that counter singles have failed the last few years (like Buckley) shows that this year the show is in real trouble. It's going the same as Big Brother. I reckon 2011 or 2012 will be the last one.

To the best of my knowledge, Joe's sales are less than that of Alexandras at the same stage last year.

Let's be honest though. What will keep the X Factor going isnt record sales - its viewers. ITV was apparently charging £250,000 per advert during the X Factor final - thats probably not far off what Cowell will make from Joe's sales this week. The more viewers ITV gets, the more money Cowell can charge ITV for showing his shows. Theres no sign of viewers deserting the X Factor - the final was the 2nd most watched programme of the year behind the Britains Got Talent final.
