Activeman
Can anyone pass on their experiences from this year in terms of looking for and locating some good space for camping on the Thursday? This year, to avoid the traffic, I managed to get my brother to set my tent up on Wednesday and just rolled up on Thursday at around midday without any problems. As my brother isnโt going next year and Iโm not really sure I can be bothered with the traffic palaver on Wednesday (Car Park opening early or not), I am trying to assess where I am likely to find myself if I attempt to find a camping spot on Thursday? I am aware there will be no space left in the popular places around the site, but I want to find out how easy it is to find a camping spot on Thursday. I assume we are looking at the fields in far flung corners of the site, but how much space exactly was there on Thursday in these far off areas โ was it is still tough to find a spot and what was it like to camp in over the fest? LusciousLucy
Tbh, it may sometimes look like there isnt any space left in places like Pennards but if it is just you and a regular sized tent then in fact this year there was space if you had the guts and the time to head into what looked like total chaos! And if the gates are opening on Tuesday next year as the rumour suggests then who knows even what it may be like even on early Wednesday. Until a year or so ago, you could find space on Thursday easy but now Wednesday is the uber popular day and you just have to take your chances. You'll find a camping spot...obviously. Its just up to you where you want to head to. Nearer the time get the contact numbers for the Efest crew that will no doubt be set up in Pennards and call one of them. They'll be able to tell you what looks empty from where they are standing!
grumpyhack
Worth the traffic queues to get there on Wednesday. Also gives you more time to bimble around and see all the non-music bits that make Glasto so different.
Activeman
Lucy โ know what you mean about space in between tents but thereโs going to be 3 of us each with tents. A few years ago I tried the old hunting around for a space in between the tents, which actually worked out ok, just got some incredibly dirty looks from out neighbours for daring to use the bit of grass they had obviously decided was theirs for the weekend. They chilled out pretty quick when they realised that an even smaller patch of grass next to them was soon to become someone elseโs camping area. Have been going to the fest for over 10 years so fairly familiar with the setup and agree about the Thursday thing. We use to turn up Thursday evening โ which was still considered as โearlyโ and with relative ease find a bit of grass to camp on. I was just wondering if anyone had camped in the Wicket Ground or South Park before as I never have. To be honest Iโve never even seen these corners. I have an image of rocking up Thursday and heading to the Wicket Ground and seeing great swathes of greenery but Iโm sure this will not be the case. Iโm willing to knock Wednesday on the head again in return for a swift and traffic free journey, but where does one look for space, at what is now considered such a late stage?
