Camper van or camping dilemma ...

Hi

I have to make a quick decision on renting a 4 berth mobile home (with shower) or camping.

I've been twice before (with someone) and took a similar campervan - 2005 & 7 so came in very handy !!

However 2010 shall be solo (although there are friends who are camping).

I can afford to take campervan, but am still a bit uncomfortable spending approx. Β£1500 (ticket+van/fuel+pocket money) on a 5 day trip to Glasto, when I could camp for much cheaper.

However, I did REALLY appreciate the comforts of the campervan at those Glasto's.... fridge, shower, double bed etc..

So should I bite the financial bullet or slum it down with everyone else ... ?

We've camped for years with our mates in Home Ground. This year we've invested in a trailer tent but that's just for night sleeping and to have the benefit of a fridge and a decent cooker for breakfast. We'll still pitch a small tent with our friends as a day time base.

If you're going solo I'd camp with friends. Otherwise see if you can find anyone wanting to share a CV with you.

Camper van has the great benefit of comfort, and we shall be using one as a family so we will share the festival experience together. If you decide on the c/v then part of the experience will be with friends and part not. I guess the decision is night time comfort and day time memories or a full on group experience & memories you shall never forget.

Ive done Glastonbury as a group and on my own, several times. Group memories seemed to have lasted the test of time. Sitting around camp fires in the evening always ended with some strange unforeseen event happening, do you want to miss that whilst you get a nice warm dry comfortable sleep in a safe quiet field. Did that help ? :P
