paulo999
Would pop up tents be ok to use? I've never pitched a tent in my life, plus I'm coming by train so I'd prefer to use a pop up one really... incident
I'd love to know if anyone's ever tried one of these. Obviously only any good if you plan on doing nothing but sleeping in it. But it's off the ground whch would be good for warmth (maybe) and definitely if it gets wet and/or muddy... ?? quite expensive....
thegremlin_1999
Don't buy a single skin one like the cheap Gelert.
feefeetee
If there's a storm, you'll be glad of a porch area, I wouldn't go without one even if I were on me own. If you don't sit in it on rainy mornings, you'll at least use it for your muddy/wet boots and clothes. And if it is pissing down, you'll be pleased of somewhere dry to sit...but then I am old Edited February 2, 2010 by feefeetee

worthyraver
Festival tent tips: Make sure you can stand up in it, so much easier to get changed.Ensure it as a porch area, to take off your boots or wellies, thus keeping the inside of the tent clean.Upscale your tent, ie 4 man tent is really for 2 people.Hydrostatic head of minimum of 1500, that said 2000 makes you feel sure it will not leak.Double skinned, this will stop condensation that forms from dripping on to you head.Light as possible, you may have to carry this tent about a mile from the car parks to your pitch. chasinghamburg
So would this one be alright for one person: http://www.outdoorworld.co.uk/vango-dart-d...lue-p-1418.html Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to spend money on rubbish, I've never even camped before! ukslim
Go somewhere where they have the tents on display erected. Climb in and see how it feels.
jeffie
Vango Swift 300 Pop Up Tent - looks absolutely fantastic - I've got a Vango Dart DS200 which is ace for one really, but as I need space for my zimmer frame I fancy just a teeny bit more space. Swift ain't cheap mind, whereas the Dart DS is about 40 odd quid - there's a 300 version of that too

madspaceangel
cejx, I have tent envy, what tent is that? We made the mistake of a single skin last year, I thought I was going to boil to death till we turned it into a lunar capsule with space blankets. Then the rustling drove us insane. skatalite
I have gone for this tent! Only cheap but a good value Coleman. Look after it there is no reason why it should'nt last a reasonable amount of time. From somerset camping. madspaceangel
Thanks cejx! I may have to do some extra shifts at work and then try and talk the OH into buying that tent. It looks lush! Have you used it yet? Is it heavy to carry? Last year we took a vango teepee because it was mega light and we were very very glad of that when facing the hill on monday morning. This thread is like tent porn. Which is all wrong I know.
kishen
Right guys, I think I've narrowed it down to two tents: Vango Alpha 300 Gelert Rocky 3 They are both around £35-£40 but I cant seem to pick one. Has anyone used either/both? Can anyone offer any advice or opinions? Thanks
