Melt Festival 2010: 16-18 July, Ferropolis

I was there last year, had a great time!! Drove down with a couple of mates and met up with a few other mates down there..

I'm thinking about going again, not 100% yet but we'll probably do the same as this year, get pissed and book it last minute!!

Such a good festival, want to see the line-up before I decide though....

The stuff about not being able to camp by your car is not really enforced, as people were doing it around us! I think this year is going to be stricter though as they have said you can no longer camp unless you actually have festival tickets whereas before they didn't care!

We'll be there! Really wanted to go last year but had to be in Beni. But definitely going to be going in 2010. Last year's line-up looked awesome, so as long as they stick to the same kind of thing I doubt you'll be disapointed, whoever ends up playing.

And if anyone needs transport from Berlin airport (Schonefeld) then we are also going to be running transfers to and from the festival for just £18 per person one way, so check out the timetable on our website here for full details.

Derm :P

I think thiose tickets are either worth for one day, only in one land (so you go through two länder: Berlin and Brandenburg, which count as one, and Sachsen- Anhalt (Saxony-Anhalt). The tickets are called Länder tickets, cost 28€ (more than I thought and was used to) and allow a group of up to 5 people to use all kinds of Nahverkehr (so all trains short of IC and ICE) in those German provinces. 28*2/5=11.50€, which is about half of what you guys are asking. Still, only as cheap if your group is 5 (or 10 or 15) guys big and sorting out where you have to change etc is a kind of hassle you won't have with the bus.

Please note festival organisers have WARNED of a website named World Ticket Shop, where Melt! tickets are sold for twice as much as the regular ticket price. They have not find out where World Ticket Shop gets its ticket supply from, please make sure to NOT PAY MORE than 90,- Euro for a 2 day ticket and 112,- Euro for a 3 day ticket including pre-sale fees

In 2008 we got the train directly from Schonefeld airport and it was about 25 euros. Last year though we hired an estate car at the airport and had an adventure on the autobahn. We'll be hiring a car again this year. It works out pretty cheap per person and you can stop off at a supermarket en route to buy your booze, supplies etc. Then you can keep your booze in the boot.

We also hired a massive 8 man tent which had 4 bedrooms. Worked out cheaper than paying extra baggage costs at the airport and was minted. The guys were really easy to deal with and they set up all the hired tents slap bang in the middle of the campsite near the showers:

Seriously looking into this atm as had my first experience of european festivals at Dour last year and really enjoyed it but having been to Berlin and falling in love with the place i'd quite like to make a wee trip of it if I went.

Few questions for those who have been before:

1. The line up atm imo is outstandng (i'm very in to my dance music :P) but having looked at last years line up is it likely we will see more acts being announced?

2. having had a wee look about on the Melt website at the FAQs section etc I can't really make out the restrictions on taking liquids into the festival etc. It states you aren't allowed loadsa stuff and only 1.5l non alcoholic per person but is this the actual arena area or the full festival site?

3. if above is the full festival site... whats the deal with taking alcohol on site? is there any restrictions?

4. what is the prices for stuff on site like? food, alcohol etc etc.

ta in advance

Hi Preacherman,

This will be my third year at Melt.

1. Melt keep adding to the line up right up until the event so you will see more names announced over the next few months.

2. Liquids. You are allowed to take a maximum of 1 x 1.5 litre cardboard carton into the arena of juice. I took vodka and apple in last year. You can take as much booze as you like into the campsite which is separate from the arena but you cannot take your own booze into the arena. You can move between the campsite and arena as many times as you like.

3. Drink last year was around 7 euros for a 40ml measure of spirits and mixer and this included 1 euro deposit for the glass which you get back when you take it back to any of the bars. I'm not a beer drinker so don't know how much this cost. There are loads of bars dotted all around and you can get, beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. Food is around 5-7 euros, again one euro deposit for the plate. Chinese, pizza, baked potatos. There is a little festival shop in the campsite.

Enjoy,

Colface

This will be my first Melt, and i can not wait! Coming from Glasgow too.

Lineup looks immense, me and a few mates are talking about heading to Exit festival first then spending a couple of days between Budapest/Berlin before doing Melt, this could be epic!

How quickly do tickets sell out in advance for Melt? probably going to book up soonish anyways.
