I've got an albino corn snake. His name is Tango. He is beauuuuutiful and I love him :P

About two years ago, I'd just gotten keen on the idea of getting a reptile, when some people listed him on Freecycle. They said they'd just had a new baby and they wanted Tango to have more affection. So...we got him. And this is a picture of him, wrapped around a house plant

I also have a newt. She's called Isaac, because we thought she was a boy at first but it turns out she's a girl. But she's keeping the name. Anywayyy, I found her a few years ago, when I had popped down to the co-op one night to buy some milk. Bent over to tie my shoelace and there was a newt on the floor! So I put her in the co-op bag (after I removed the milk) and she's lived in a fish tank since :P

She's got this lump on her head. We don't know what it is, but this picture's rather old and it's much bigger now. Of course, since she's a newt, we can't take her to the vet or anything. But :P

:P

But pets dying sucks.

This is my little orange bastard cat. His name is Flame. He will come up to you, roll over and expect his belly to be tickled. Even if you're a burglar. He licks my head because he thinks I need grooming. What a hair nazi.

Pets dying. We obviously see this every day and PTSs are simply a major part of it..never gets any easier though.

I`ve been involved in a couple which really really got to me and its never easy. We`ve had a few which wouldn`t f**kin die as well.. even with loads of blue juice going in.

Our dog is called PHENO which is short for Phenobarbitol... the blue juice for killins.

Sil saved him from certain death.

Our snake which is also an albimo corn is called Lawrence after my fav poem called The Snake by (guess).... yes D H Lawrence.

I suggest your use of the word Euthanasia is somewhat misleading. This is a KILLIN. End of.

I've just got two new slings. A Barchypelma Smithi and a Grammastola Pulchra. I've had two Grammostolas in the past, though they were a Rosea and flame Rosea. Shall be getting a bird eater shortly too. An Acanthoscurria geniculata. Beautiful specimens.

I euthanased one of our Guinea pigs 2 nights ago. Would have liked some Phenobarbitol, cushion in a bin liner had to do. Mrs did the real bad task of chucking him over the hedge down the road. We're still in mourning.

Do you know what species it was and if so can you please tell me?

I might get a pair of matures of the Brachypelma and Grammostola genus as it takes seven years to grow and you don't know if they'll be male or female when they get there, but they cost about £100 each. The Acanthoscurria only takes two years to mature and grows to 10", mind that doesn't last 30 years like the others.

I have a 'friend' who does the exotic pets thing (everything from emus to crocs), and via him I've met many others.

I've never met such a bunch of uncaring self-proclaimed "animal lovers" in my life. It's f**k all to do with anything about the animals, and everything to do with how much they can show off the animals they've acquired.

In nearly every case, once they've done the showing off thing, the animal has no show-off value to them any more, and the animal is sold on where the exact same thing happens. A bunch of egotistical uncaring c**ts, every one of them.

Am I surprised to hear to that worm indulges in the same thing? :P

I had a snake once, are you going to tar me with the same brush?

Because don't you f**king dare. I loved that snake and he was very well looked after. Judging off the way worm cares for his cats, I think you're wrong about him also.

What about people who show their dogs at crufts? What's actually wrong with wanting to show your pets?? Infact, isn't that exactly what this thread is all about?

I'm not talking about those who have one or two well-cared for pets. I'm talking about those who 'collect' exotic pets, but whose collection is always transient - the animal is only a part of that collection for as long as it has show-off value to the 'collector'. In my experience, this is always the case with such 'collectors'.

Showing off a pet isn't really an issue - providing that it's a properly cared for pet, and not a temporary and transient 'pet' that soon gets sold on.

I've no idea how worm treats his pets. But I doubt he'd sell on well-loved cats, in the way that most exotic animal 'collectors' soon sell-on animals that are a part of their 'collection'.

Does worm sell on his 'pets', and by doing so prove that they're not really loved pets? You'll have to ask him, but his posts here give me the strong impression that he does.
