Firefox 3.6 Compatability

Hi efests.

The box for writng posts in does not seem to work with Firefox 3.6.

It may just be me but the module doesnt work. could be a plugin issue but i'm not techie enough to know!

it appears that it is just you - I've seen no issues using firefox 3.6 to post.

Does it run ona plugin? I don't even get the option of a quick reply anymore - which did use to work, I'm taking about the full blown reply box. but now the quick reply has gone too!

This is frustrating

No plug-in is used.

I've no idea why the fast reply would have stopped working .... unless you have javascript turned off?

With the full-blown reply box, there's a button within it to toggle between a simpler version and the proper full-blown version so that might be the issue there perhaps .... otherwise I can only think it's a javascript problem as above.

The other, different, possibility that comes to mind is that perhaps your browser has cached a corrupt copy of the page or its related javascript - that can be forced to update by doing Ctrl-F5, so it's worth a try.

Outside of that I have no ideas, sorry.

Fast reply has returned and i can type in the html version in add reply. I can operate all the format options in add reply. just no type anything the box!

at least fast reply is back. I don't understand html at all but suppose i will have to make do

I have tried unsinstalling both Java and firefox completely and the same problem resides.

Java is a completely different thing to Javascript - while the names are similar, there's no relationship between them whatsoever.

Javascript is a feature within browsers (Firefox, IE, etc), and there's usually an option to enable/disable it within the browser preferences.

Tho having said that, if the fast reply is working then javascript must be enabled, because it wouldn't work otherwise.

I'm also using firefox 3.6 and am having trouble quoting. I can write normal replies, like this, but if I use the quote function it won't let me write in the box... I have to qoute without adding my bit in, then use the edit function to edit the quote and add my own bits. I assumed it was the site rather than my browser though.

it's certainly not this website by itself, as that version browser works fine for me and others.

It might be caused by a combination of this site, that version browser, and other aspects of your computer setup.

It's not something I'll be spending any time looking into tho. I'm currently working thru the steps needed to be able to upgrade these forums to the latest version of the forums software, which might solve the issue you're having.

However .... don't go holding your breath for that upgrade happening imminently - there's a significant amount of work that needs doing first, and it has to be fitted round other stuff that needs doing. I hope that I'll have things sorted in around a month or so.

I don't see any problem elsewhere on the site (line up/chat/news/links etc) no.

fingers crossed, hopefully it'll be resolved by an upgrade to the forums software which will be happening soon-ish.
