skrappy
Hi there, I am travelling from Ireland and I am thinking of flying into Bristol, can anyone tell me if there is a bus or train or how much in a taxi to the site please? Wont be getting there until Thursday evening. Any info would be a great help
barnaby cringle
I wouldn't get a taxi, it will cost a bomb (it's about 25 miles away). You're probably better getting the air shuttle to Bristol Coach Station, then getting a coach down to the festival. Either that or a train from Temple Meads to Castle Carey. barnaby cringle
http://www.nationalexpress.com/bp/b2.cfm?id=214171156 However, it doesn't seem to be too cheap on the coach. You may be better on the train, but I don't think there'll be fares this long in advance. If you were to go by taxi, you'd be dropped off at Bath and West Showground, then you'd need to get the shuttle to the site. It's all much of a muchness whether you get the coach, train or a taxi really. Edited February 5, 2010 by barnaby cringle
Red Day
We took a taxi last year and depending on how many of you are sharing it's not that bad. We were Β£56 single and they drop you near the festival bus park. You can pre-pay a taxi to pick you up on the Monday and take you back to the airport. This year I would guess about Β£125 return for a taxi, split however many way and it could work out cheaper than the bus. I did have a look at National Express and it seems to pick you up at the airport, head into Temple Meads and hang about there for a while before heading to Glasto. My advice is take a taxi but it comes down to costs.
vinylvictim
Friends of mine got the National Express shuttle bus last year, it was direct from the airport to the festival bus station. Journey time was roughly an hour, less than the time advertised, but that'll depend on traffic obviously

Helsbels
I used to live in Dublin and flew to Bristol in 2005. We arrived early Wednesday morning on Ryanair and got a taxi straight there which was really easy and about Β£40 so probably Β£50ish these days. One thing I would say though is with the traffic this year for instance is maybe have an agreed prebooked price in case of delays.
Activeman
Doubt you'll have any traffic issues due to Thursday being the new "quiet" day on the roads (certainly was last year when I rolled up on Thursday around midday). One idea I thought of was try putting a request on the lift sharing part of these boards. Plenty of time before you need to make a decision and I think there is a good chance (come closer thee day), that someone will be leaving from Bristol on Thursday who can give you a lift.
