Getting to PGA

Last year we were heading for East car parks, but got stuck in the massive jam on the A37.

So after a couple of hours of going nowhere we turned around and headed through the back roads (following a randomer with a sat nav, thanks mate :P )and managed to get to pilton, and so we were directed to the "yellow" gate, I think (it was where the buses dropped people off)

Now we ended up in car park W22, so we decided to change camp sites and camped in Spring Ground, which we liked and so have decided to try get there again, same camp site and if possible same car park.

So my question is, if I come from the west will I be able to get to the "yellow" gate, or will I be forced to turn into the car parks earlier ?

I tried doing this a few years back. Normally my route is from the M5 through Glastonbury town and into the West Car parks. However one year after a detour at Newbury Services we came in from the A37 direction.

We were guided straight into the East Car Park, we did not want this so carried on past the entrance in an attempt to find our way to the West Car Park...bad move, most the side roads are blocked off and when we eventually found a road that would take us to the west of the site it took a good hour of back road driving up and down through millions of tiny villages.

My advice would be if you have to come from the East stay on the A303 until you are able to get a direct road to Glastonbury Town, head through Glastonbury Town and pick up the main route to the festival (normally identifiable by the long queue of cars), either that or try and find the bloke you followed last time. :P
