No, not at all. But the headliners are the meat of the announcement, they're just the starters!

I'm really not sure about Virtual Festival's take on things as they just repeated the idea that was posted on here that the free gig would be in Hyde Park. BUT that would make the free gig after Download Festival, which would not be acceptable to the majority of people if they were playing Download.....it does all start to look like they're an inevitability: I've been hearing strong (reliably sourced - i.e. not from the internet ) rumours of RATM headlining since December....I'll be gutted (but not overly surprised) if they don't.

I can't imagine 30STM being announced yet anyway as their UK tour doesn't finish for over another week

Billy Idol has come from nowhere! and im not sure how much of a draw he would be to be honest. I like him but he's played before and doesn't have the wow factor I can imagine they're going for

AC said that Stone Sour are unavailable due to writing/recording the new album

FFDP, if they need the varity they might get announced but with having played last year and them already self confirming I dunno why they'd bother announcing these tomorrow

I just think it seems that there's a smaller pool of headliners around for Reading this year, and of all the more "Download" bands, GNR seem the most Reading friendly. Seeing as most Reading goers nowadays watch bands on the basis of one or two songs, and they don't get much better known than "Sweet Child of Mine", it seems a no brainer

I reckon Finsbury Park on Sunday, some shows during the week (possibly Ireland & Glasgow) and headline Download on the Saturday. The ballot registration closing this Sunday and the Download headliners being announced on Monday is a bit of a coincidence. Also Tom has never said this is the only UK show or the only show they will be playing this year.

Hope to fook that I'm right as I'm flying back to the UK on the 6th June so cannot make Finsbury Park.....devastated.

Be sure to tune into www.classicrockmagazine.com at 6.45pm (GMT) today, Monday, February 15. That’s the time when we’ll be revealing the names of two massive bands who have just been added to the bill at Download 2010.

Trust us – this announcement won’t so much knock your socks off, it’ll cause your feet to explode from your ankes!

Put it this way. I denied myself and my fiancée the chance to see Billy Idol in 2005 when I (selfishly, lol) took her to see Napalm Death instead, simply due to indecision over the headliners that day. I enjoyed Napalm, unsurprisingly she was a bit nonplussed. However we were gutted when we saw the highlights. Billy Idol looked immense on that stage!

I'll stay up for the headliners. Not for the others. I'll wait until tomorrow for those.
