Rock en Seine

Hi folks,

my girlfriend and I are thinking of going over to Paris in August and I've noticed that the Rock en Seine festival is on towards the end of the month.

Has anyone been to this before and can anyone give tips about what it's like, how easy it is to get to?? Is it better to camp or is it easy enough to get the metro back into the city centre afterwards?

any advice gratefully received

cheers, Dave

Thanks very much for the reply Operator !

It sounds like a great festival, very different to ones like Glastonbury and T in the Park that I'm used to. To be honest I like the idea of staying in a hotel and getting the metro in/out. well, my girlfriend likes that idea more than I do :P

any idea when the line-up becomes available, or when tickets are likely to sell out?

i think its actually never been sold out...so you can wait quite a bit with deciding on any ticket purchases, especially if you´re not gonna need a camping ticket. line up´s late this year...i think they always had something on the site at the beginning of the year. but the site deisgn hasn´t changed either (they have a theme design every year which is also cool...makes it all tad more unique in my opinion)

just keep looking sort of once a week...or get on their mailing list, they don´t send any unwanted spam

p.s. i´m not any kind of festival-visitor-recruiter :P i just really think that rock en seine is a great festival and well organised, i´m going to leeds for the first time this year, so if you have any tips for that, that would be great

great, than have fun, if you do go.

one more thing concerning the lineup: as the festival´s on the same weekend as leeds and reading some groups do all three festivals, so there are some parallels.

in 2004 e.g. brmc had to cancel their rock en seine show and auf der maur who were playing leeds on friday and reading on sunday (or the other way round) spontaneously filled brmc´s spot at rock en sein...

Anyone got any idea when the full line up for this and La Route Du Rock are announced??

I was going to go to a fest in Belgium, but it's all looking a bit too me-tal there at the moment (Iron Maiden ffs), the answer may lie in France, but i'm not sure where yet! :P

anyone whose camped here before do you know whether you're supposed to arrive on the actual day of the festival (the friday) or the day before, cos the camping pass is only 3 nights so i assumed that would be friday, saturday and sunday night??

also is there anything you're not allowed to bring like aerosols etc, and are bbqs/campfires allowed??

i'll answer my own question :P

i just printed out my tickets and they've got all the rules and regulations - no fires, bbqs or camping stoves; how are we supposed to eat?!

anyone know of the nearest supermarket? there's no way i'm eating festival food non-stop, it's gross and rediculously expensive, i've google mapped it and there appears to be a lidl about a half hour walk away? anything closer?

hi,

camping opens on the first day of the festival. you cannot get in any earlier - camped there in 2008.

but you´re not allowed to take aynthing that has to do with fire inside. but you can take your canon eos 400d if you want...security took the camera out my mates bag and just waved him through...no probs at all.

and its per pitch...you buy your camping spot and not a certain amount of people - even if you´re only three people, you have to pay the 90 euros (which includes personal guide directly to it by the staff there - this might only be for foreigners i don´t have a clue), but that price has gone up since then...think i paid 20 for a two person spot back in 2008.

supermarket´s about 10-15 mins away...just go back over the bridge (you´ll know what i mean by bridge when you get there :P ) and follow the largest road, after about 10 mins you should hit the first supermarket on the right. there are a few parks on the way as well so if you need to sit down and just enjoy the sun there are some nice quiet spots.
