hi,

camping opens on the first day of the festival. you cannot get in any earlier - camped there in 2008.

but you´re not allowed to take aynthing that has to do with fire inside. but you can take your canon eos 400d if you want...security took the camera out my mates bag and just waved him through...no probs at all.

and its per pitch...you buy your camping spot and not a certain amount of people - even if you´re only three people, you have to pay the 90 euros (which includes personal guide directly to it by the staff there - this might only be for foreigners i don´t have a clue), but that price has gone up since then...think i paid 20 for a two person spot back in 2008.

supermarket´s about 10-15 mins away...just go back over the bridge (you´ll know what i mean by bridge when you get there :P ) and follow the largest road, after about 10 mins you should hit the first supermarket on the right. there are a few parks on the way as well so if you need to sit down and just enjoy the sun there are some nice quiet spots.

The bogs in the venue are fine, eco toilets so no smell at all that i remember.

Stayed in a hotel so can't comment on the campsite. Other poster yeah there was a cocktail tent which made lovely capirinha's and mojito's that i remember. Expensive enough but its paris.

The beer was lovely as its heineken and cheap buy Paris standards.

But it is simple to bring your own booze into the venue in a camelpack or something similiar...

Alas not going this year, friend getting married but was a really nice festival last year.......

Could anyone explain how the camping system works? Me and a friend have bought a 2 person camping ticket - what kind of space does that grant you? Also, its likely that other people will be coming with us and buying tickets at a later date, does this mean they won't be camping with us? I don't like the sound of that! Cheers :P

@ tooly: bogs are fine and there are enough on the camping site as well as on the festival grounds, loved your very well expressed way of asking :P

@jakkc: might be a bit of prob actually if you order your camping tix later than someone else. but the people there are friendly and speak english, so just ask if you can camp together if you don´t get a neighbouring spot, they'll surely do that.

generally: it's all very relaxed at rock en seine and no hassle what so ever - the crowd and the crew want to be sure that we all have a good time and they def do that.

concerning the camping spot sizes (can only say somethging about the 2 person spots): my tent is said to accomodate three people and has a little extra bit at the front where you can put your cool box and what-not. and that did go over the line that was drawn on the grass (jep thats right :P lines parting the single spots from each other) but nobody said anything (why should they?) the width of the space was perfect, but as said the length wasn´t...the crowd on the site was ratehr quiet and pleasant so there was nobody falling over my tent at night...

running out of tips as i think i´ve said everything you need to know about res...hmmm...

maybe: our neighbours in 2008 were great and helpful, we spoke french with them and they replied in english which was cool to pimp up your language skills :P so, as said: no hassle, even the police that handle traffic around the crossing just before the festival were ok and talked to us...festival goers are def preferred over traffic

you take the "RER" into the city. it goes to gare du nord and paris est, I think to remember.

and from there you can get anywhere with the metro.

i think you can also travel as far as you want with the ticket you buy at the airport for the RER...meaning that you can change into the metro and one of the main stations without having to buy a ticket again...but I could be wrong, don´t know for sure.

the metro ride from the main stations takes a bit though...around 30 mins or so. you´ll need to know where to get off the metro, it´s in the outskirts of the city in the west...just follow the french youth :) it´s then just a short 10 min. walk and your there.

hope this helps a bit

Have booked tickets today, very reasonable (99E) considering the line-up! Can't wait, camping sold out so staying in an Etap nearby. Cheap flights L'pool to CDG on the Thursday evening with Easyjet.

Couple of quick q's; can someone confirm whether or not you can take cameras or booze in? And indeed how strict are the searches?

Also what time does it go on to and are there any afterparties etc

last band finishes sometime between half past 11 and 12...trains/metros also run at that time.

not sure about after parties to be honest, was never really in the mood, after walking round paris all day and then the festival.

cameras: yes, my mate took his canon eos 400d with him and had no problems...but that was in 2008, dunno if they've "stricted" things up a little.

booze: nope...no glass bottles whatsoever. camel bag rucksacks are def. allowed, plastic bottles as well.

paris is a nice place to be in summer. last time I was there, yes it was quite hot. BUT the festival grounds are full of trees and places to sit in the shade.

water...can´t rememeber really, don´t think so though. campsite had water facilities though.

showers are there and (this is not sarcasm) they are normal european standard showers - turn tap for water (guess you could expect large differences in france from common, known things :) ) from a hygienist´s point of view: no need to worry, looked clean.

have fun who ever´s going! off to england and leeds festival tomorrow myself.
