Tuesday night - Is it really worth sleeping in the car for the night?

Is anyone going down Tuesday evening? I dont particularly fancy sleeping in the car for the night, but on the other hand, there are a group of us with 7 tents between us and we want to camp together if we can, so need a good spot. We usually camp in Kidney Mead, as its not too far to carry all the kit from the car.

The truth is nobody really knows this year as it's the first time it'd been done.

I don't want to sleep in a car before embarking on 5 nights in a tent so I'll be leaving home in Bristol about 6am and seeing what gives. Should be fine :P

I'm the same as t0paz, really can't be bothered sleeping in my car. It's tiny, the front seats don't recline fully and the rear seats will be full of our 'stuff' as I can't even fit a fart into my boot (seriously!).

I'm only 2hrs away so will happily leave at 5/6am Wed ...

Peace x

Despite not being keen to spend the night in the car, after last years journey down from Liverpool ranging from between 12-24hrs for our group, everyone I know is now going to try for the tuesday just to see what its like. I suspect a lot of folk may try it out this year just because they can?

I only live just over an hour away, so realistically I can go down early in the morning. I foresee there being a huge queue at the gate to get in at 8:00 am. wonder what time people will be making their way to the gates? all these unknown answers.. ho hum. Just cant make up my mind, but will prob do the early morning thing

Festivals are knackering enough as it is. Starting off with virtually no sleep seems like a crazy idea.

Shall get a hotel within an hour's drive of the site, bank a nice 8 hours sleep and start off the holiday feeling good and refreshed!

We're staying just down the road the night before, this worked great in the past. Thought about cancelling and just being in the car but I'll have enough sleep deprivation over the weekend without starting off in a bad way. The one thing I'm not looking forward to this year is massive pedestrian queues to get in. Let's just hope it's not pissing it down!

My dad recommends it... He never used to take a tent to Glasto because he hates camping [he does now though xD] and used to get there really early and park close as possible, just went back each night and slept in the back. Though he did have a big car and he's a fairly modest 5ft9, but if someone can sleep in a car the whole time, one night can be done and I guess it's fair to say you will get in faster. Might as well and chalk it up to experience if it goes wrong?
