Have to admit I didn't look - just zoomed in, picked up the Base Full, and zoomed out.

There is of course an upside to the modular bits. For smaller festies, the XL III is all I need. It's only Glastonbury where I *really* want more room. On site for 10 days this year, so having a 'lounge' is real boon.

And of course, being able to open all the sides should make for nicer daytime sleeps... which I'll need now I'll be a photo-stalker down in the all night area :P

I don't usually do tent-envy, always been the first to sing the praises of Coleman tents... but i NEED one of those in my life.

Hmm, Merry Hell's only a hop, skip & a contraflow up the M6 for me too.

LW Trust us, the Quechua Base tents are really easy to pack-away. The first time I did it, it was straight into the round bag it comes with. I was surprised at how easy it was. There's no complicated twisting on the Base, perhaps due to it's size/shape.

I think the smaller Seconds pop-up tents require a more complex fold, as you described earlier in the thread.

I own a Base seconds with the inner bedroom tent and have used it as my luxury one person festival tent for the last 3 years. Folding it down does take a bit of upper body strength, but ive done it when I have been hungover and having had no sleep.

Im liking the look of the 4.1, what sort of base does the sleeping area have? Im just wondering how robust it would be.

I love this thread! Tent porn is awesome.

Vango seems to be hugely underrepresented though!

I have one of these...

It is a great tent and I recommend Vango to anyone, they are a solid brand.

(Having said that, that Quechua base 4 looks like heaven.)

Man, the Quechua Base 4.1 looks like tent heaven. Pity it's so expensive.

Think I'll do one more year with my old faithful Tesco tent and then get a decent one for next season. Is there anywhere else other than Decathlon that sells the Base 4.1? There isn't a Decathlon near me :P

I'm a bit confused. On the Decathlon site it seems like you buy these kind of things as little bits and join them together? Is there anywhere I can just buy that set up from?

Also, the Base seconds 4.2 tent on the decathlon site seems pretty good?

I've always been quite strongly against pop up tents because I haven't thought they were sturdy enough to stand up to bad rain/wind? Are they double skinned?

The Base 4.1 is available in-store, just not on Decathlon website.

Quechua pop-ups are brilliant, will stand up to anything you can give them and are obviously double skinned. In extreme winds (enough to pull out your guy ropes and pegs) they do tend to fold in on themselves but that is also their strength because they will not break and just pop straight back out when the wind subsides. Other makes of pop-up (gelert etc) are not double skinned and should be avoided. Quechua poles are very very break resistant and you can even have people jump ontop of them (as they like to do at Reading & Leeds) and they will just spring back to life un-harmed.
