PC speaker recommendations?

Well, not technically true. They've been having a bit of a spaz the past month or so, so I sent them back to Amazon and they're giving me a full refund.

I did have some glooooorious Logitech X-230s, they were marvellous, I loved them. I considered just buying some new ones, but I can't seem to find them anywhere except eBay - I don't fancy buying them off eBay, solely because they're at about £40+, and I bought mine for £30. Stingy much?

This is where you lovely people come in. Recommend me some decent ones. I'd preferably like to spend less than £40 on them, since I am a student and money's running low. That said, decent sound quality is a must.

tl;dr - suggest decent speakers, less than £40.

I've just bought these;

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/74746

Bought them for my xbox, they handle gaming perfectly, as well as streaming films and tv shows. Weirdly, the only thing they can't handle is the lost theme note played quite loud. Also, ordered them Sunday night with free delivery, arrived Tuesday morning.

Edit; they've got quite a few Logitech 2.1 on there for less than £40 too.

halp! i've got a hi-fi but it must be about 20 years old and i think it's on it's last legs. my left speaker keeps cutting out unless it's at a stupidly loud volume. connecters are only about a couple years old and everything is in place, so that's not the problem.

like lolbeck, i'm looking for something under 50 quid. should i but new speakers for the hi-fi or just go for standalone speakers? this is for plugging into my laptop btw.

Get some active monitors. Something like this

I have the old version of these and they are great

EDIT: or these are a bit cheaper and take up less space
