are probably the same people who said "WHOS TEH RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!" "WHOS PEARL JAM!" "WHO SMASHED PUMPKIN?!"

Simply non-music enthusiasts.

You dont have to like Arcade Fire but at least accept they are reasonable headliners. Are the people bitching essentially those false pretentious indie girls who go to festivals becasue its the thing to do?

To be fair, I've never knowingly listened to Arcade Fire. I'm going to Leeds because I thought it would be a great birthday present for my girlfriend who's certainly more in touch with music post-The Jesus and Mary Chain than I am.

I'm open minded, of course, so I'll give all of the bands that I haven't heard of a listen before I get in my car and sod off up the M1 for a weekend in August.

I think there's a difference between being a music enthusiast and being elitist enough to choose when to stop caring about what's the latest fad.

Personally I would much rather see RATM, Pearl Jam or Smashing Pumpkins as I went to see Arcade Fire 3 years ago in a smallish venue and thought they were boring as hell, it was like being at church.

Are Arcade Fire headline material? Well they will have a similar crowd to Razorlight but I would think that most people would think they are a better band than Razorlight?

The problem with Arcade Fire is that they are not really a R & L band, there will be far bigger crowds for bands like the Libertines and Lostprophets. I would guess the tent and surrounding areas for Pendulum will be as rammed as it was for Lostprophets last year. I won't be watching them (or Pendulum) but I'm sure they will entertain the people who like them.

Actually, the coolest song ever made is 'Just Like Honey' by The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Everybody has opinions, but only idiots profess them as fact.

How can you laugh at my opinion that Just Like Honey is the greatest song ever made? It's Phil Spector meets Brian Wilson on a speed freak trip through the distortion pedals of The Velvet Underground. You plain and simply cannot fault its value as a great big f**k off to the history of music.

Such is the value of intelligence when people laugh at preferences others have, and you backed up your argument by posting a video of a band that somebody else had the originality to post before. How clever. What's next? Shorthand? A 'your mum' insult? Go play with the seals, you organic beach ball.

Not massively into Jesus And Mary Chain, Shoegaze isn't really my thing. But they're hardly the sort of band you can take the piss out of someone for liking. One of the most critically acclaimed acts of the 80s, up there with The Smiths, Stone Roses, Pixies, MBV, Sonic Youth etc. in that field.

People miss the point here. It's not that Arcade Fire are not a worthy headliner, it is not that they are not capable of headlining it is the simple fact that they are NOT a massive act. Headliners for the big 4 festivals tend to be massive selling acts, Arcade Fire simply don't fit that bracket.
