Legendary Sets at Reading/Leeds?

Hey guys, my first post! From reading posts about the Libs or Gnr sets at this year festivals being memorable ones for the better or worse, it got me thinking, for those of you who've been to R/L many times, which sets have gone down as legendary? Both in a bad sense and a good sense?

Hands down the worst gig i have ever seen was at leeds festival 2006, Towers Of London, there were about 1000 people there everyone just stood and looked amazed at how shockingly band it was, not that anyone was expecting any different. Red Hot Chili Peppers were embaressingly bad in 2007 as well, that set will definitely be remembered for being truely dire. Yeah Yeah Yeahs in 2006 were a highlight, probably best time I have seen them but again wouldn't exactly go down as legendary!?

Can't ever remember seeing a mainstage set and being blown away to be honest..

Stranglers 87 (still with Hugh and brilliant set)

Alice cooper (Just f**king brilliant) 87

Status Quo (They headlined and f**king nailed it in a 3 chord way) 87

Bad News (so my better than Tenacious D) 87

Metallica (was just amazing) 08

Ramones (glad I saw them) 88

The Pixies (where ace then) 90

Radiohead (it was perfect timing) 09

It must be said that Reading: "Strudders the early years" we would always aim for the very front, and I do think that has a bearing on why the early sets were so good... Status, Alice, Stranglers and Pixies all on the rail...

However given I am now fat, old, blind and a drunken liability, I tend to keep further back...

Nine Inch Nails in 2007 is probably the most renowned mainstage set I've seen in recent years. I don't think I've seen an opinion from anyone who watched it who thought it wasn't amazing (and I know that this inevitably sets myself up for someone to say they didn't think it was all that much).

I personally thought that Radiohead last year was amazing, but I know that's not as widely held an opinion.

I didn't see it but Arctic Monkeys in the then Carling Stage in 2005 was pretty legendary, mainly for the massive crowds it attracted at both sites.

Arcade Fire in the Radio 1 Stage in 2005 at Leeds holds legendary status for me, as does Brand New in the R1 Stage in 2007, although neither of those were at the level of NIN or Radiohead.

Proberly not legendary but some of my all time favs are

Less Than Jake (2006) - My first Leeds fest and was on the first day so was really excited. The sound was perfect and LTJ were as tight as always. Massive crowd which was enegetic as f**k. Great setlist aswell. Been to Leeds 4 times now and I still think this was the best band/set I have seen.

Bedouin Soundclash (2006) Headlined the Carling tent. Pretty much packed out and the lead singer of Bedouin lost his voice and had to cut there set short but as they played their last song the whole crowd sang instead of the singer. They seemed touched by it and it was one of those awesome moments you were happy to be apart of.

Lethal Bizzle (2009) Just for the fact he had a packed out NME stage in the palm of his hand. He could have done anything and still bin the f**king man that day.
