I wouldn't say any performances in the time I've been going to Reading could be considered "Legendary" (in a positive sense - The Darkness get it for the wrong reasons).

I would say Metallica at Download in 2004 where Lars was absent, and they had a few guest drummers, including Joey Jordison, would be the closest to a "legendary" festival performance I've seen.

Good to see a few mentions for the wonderful Daphne and Celeste in 2000. It still tickles me pink that the vast majority of the crowd didn't get the iorny of sweaty, vaguely hideous gruntpigs bottling 2 sassy, intelligent pop fans for inferring the said sweaty gruntpigs were just a bit ugly. Clarse!

Kevin Rowlands set in 99 was quite legendry but not in a good way.

You turn up expecting the ex Dexys Midnight Runners man to do a few hits and then this comes out.

I'd like to throw out one of the best performances i've seen.

The shambolic mess that was Be Your Own Pet in 2008. One of their last gigs as a band and it was incredible....

Blood, broken guitars, stage diving, drukeness, boob flashes, and great music. Such a great mess of a preformance but so epic.

I would say Radiohead 2009 , NIN 2007 and Arcade Fire 2007 that my opinion.

Ive only been to Leeds 4 times so not much of a sample size.

It was a brilliant set; they finished with all their equipment set on fire! They did a good job because let's be honest, Warning was an average album and half their set was from that release, so to make that brilliant shows just how amazingly good they are live.
