Just done a quick count and I reckon we have a little more than 50% of the amount of acts we had last year. We will have a few more than last time around so would say we have the same amount of acts still to come.

So any doubters, don't worry :P

I can't find a complete line-up for 2009 online anymore, I know it's kind of personal opinion on who each of us considers bigger acts but you got a rough idea the comparison of the number of big acts announced vs the number of big acts last year? i.e - no small Scottish DJs or bands (inc ppl from Sub Club etc) that are used to pad out the line-up.

I'm anticipating a cut in the # of acts this year vs last year overall, at least the number of bigger acts.

I can't see anything more than another medium sized announcement followed by the odd act here & there.

Fingers crossed though. And like has been said before, it'll be a good weekend no matter the line-up.

Big/Biggish acts from last year.....

Flaming Lips

Basement Jaxx

Dizzee Rascal

David Guetta

The Prodigy

Biffy Clyro

The Wombats

Orbital

Pete Tong

Placebo

Soulwax

Super Furry Animals

Alabama 3

Erol Alkan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RockNess_2009

So I'd say 14 big names last year that played(Zane Lowe and Pendulum didn't)that most of the radio masses should have heard of.

This year.....

2manydjs

Alabama 3

Annie Mac

Blondie

Doves

Enter Shikari

Fatboy Slim

Friendly Fires

Hadouken!

Ian Brown

Leftfield

Pendulum

Soulwax

The Maccabees

The Strokes

Vampire Weekend

Zane Lowe

*Justice(Xavier de Rosnay)*

So I make that 17*18* with only half the line-up announced.

Feel free to disagree :P

I don’t mean just names that the average joe public will recognise, I meant any “name” acts, as in a name a good few people will recognise but not necessarily everyone. I went through the list from 2009 and I would say from that there was 49 acts who were instantly recognisable to me (listed below), that’s not including any of the Soma acts of which there were some nice ones playing or any of the Sub Club acts (inc Optimo):

Flaming Lips, Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, David Guetta, Just Jack, Cagedbaby, Sneaky Sound System, The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro, The Wombats, The Cuban Brothers, Orbital, Pete Tong, Crookers, Annie Mac, DJ Yoda, Jaymo & Andy George, Brodinksi, Placebo, Soulwax, Pendulum, Layo & Bushwacka, Chase & Status, Scratch Perverts, The Whip, Japanese Popstars, Super Furry Animals, Alabama 3, Frightened Rabbit, Erol Alkan, Dubfire, Mylo, LCD Soundsytem DJ set, Zane Lowe, Kissy Sell Out, Count & Sinden, Dub Pistols, Filthy Dukes, Alex Metric, Yousef, Hervé, Riton, Andrew Weatherall, Jon Carter, Toddla T, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, DJ Feadz, Krazy Baldhead

So far from the 2009 list, I would say the following fall into the same category:

Fatboy Slim, Pendulum, Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari, Booka Shade, Crystal Castles, Mark Knight, High Contrast, Leftfield, Ian Brown, Soulwax, Club 75, Green Velvet, Tinie Tempah, Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Plan B, Alabama 3, Boysnoize, Aeroplane, Dub Pistols, Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, Freestylers, The Strokes, Vampire Weekend, 2manyDJs, Doves, Chase & Status, Blondie, The Maccabees, Dave Clarke, Bloody Beetroots, Rob Da Bank, Hadouken, Vitalic, The Cuban Brothers, Japanese Popstars, Kevin Bridges

That’s 39 acts, so really there’s only 10 acts of a difference in my opinion so not really much to be added in reality. Less than I thought anyway. The acts on this years line-up just probably don’t appeal to my personal tastes as much as previous years which is why it seems worse. Oh well, if there’s only another 10 “name” acts to be announced then I hope they’re good ones…

So essentially "name acts" are the ones you like? Different for everybody. Like I said when you compare the line-ups we have more proper big names than last year and we are only half way through it. Also you got 49 out of the entire line-up last year, you alread have 39 from half of it this year. Which is looking strongest then?

It's always going to be subjective but this year has more bigger artists already so although not my personal preference, it is already 'stronger'.

Going to both so well chuffed with both line ups, there are always cross overs and means that I can safely miss one at one fest and pick them up at the other.......

BTW stop whining the line up rocks......Friday night is a massive step up from last year

I'm more than happy with that's there already. I'm also now tempted to check out the new LED festival and catch Leftfield there meaning I can cut shapes to Club 75 at Rockness for the entire 4 hours:D

Quite interested in Jim King's recent comments about getting more comedians, reckon they'll do short stings inbetween sets on the main stage or have their own tent?
