Any Rumours?

There rarely are rumours of that sort, but what I do want to throw in for the usual lively debate *cough* is there's an advert in the new Uncut which has Tinchy, Go! Team and Mumfords on the top line. Rob said that at least one (not all) of the headliners has already been announced. Go! Team I can get behind to some extent if they get their new album out by then, M&S, well, they've sold nearly 400,000 albums already and it's only going to keep going through the festival season but they're still on their first album (so were Simian Mobile Disco, mind you) Tinchy's been a huge singles success, but has he really had that much nationwide attention outside the teen urban set and can he really fulfil a 60-90 minute non-specialist festival headline slot?

Musician Stage announcement tomorrow, the Twitter's just said.

If I was being slightly cynical I might suggest that the headliners will be whoever turns out to be the 'biggest' acts booked on each day, and that this may well end up being Titchy Stinker, M&S and the Go! Team.

Not fussed about who's headlining myself - if I get a ticket it will be for the overall line-up.

I would say that Peggy Sue may well be on the bill if their MySpace saying that they are is anything to go by:

Others that the crystall ball are suggesting are Diesel Park West or maybe just John Butler with some friends for the Sunday.

A few more that look good bets:

- Spaceships are Cool

- SugarSnatch (?)

- Autohype to play the main stage on Saturday

- Ragtime Jug Orchestra on Friday

Mumford & Sons are looking like potential Sunday headliners

Yes you have. It's usually followed by my MM @ a Galliano Leicester Uni gig, my mates take the rise out of him, he goes off in a huff. You then state how Acid Jazz was the worst music ever invented and you hate beany hats.

Rob Gallagher is always worth the entrance fee no matter what he's doing. Here he is with former SSW act, Koop.

i once saw mark morrison in argos, in leicester city centre, looking at buying a new bed, right in the return of the mack height. i say buying a bed, it seemed to involve an entourage of 13 people behind him, with mr morrison standing on said bed, whilst signing autographs. and a knackered stretched limo playing drum n bass at ear splitting volume, whilst illegally parked outside on belgrave gate.

thats what you need to do to buy a new bed, if your mark morrison

and he turned up at the abbey park festival in 1995 i think. how utterly odd.

That MGMT link is really interesting...

In a really circular sort of discussion, Alan Jenkins was also involved in very early Yeah Yeah Noh.... see this interview by Dave Dixey for details...

Leicester - so much to answer for....

I wonder if bands will be citing the influence of the Falling Leaves in years to come.
