This video has just been leaked which shows 2 american apache gunships opening fire on a group of civilians, including two journalists with camera equipment, the pilots assumed the journalists camera lenses were rpg's and the other "insurgents had ak47's :P

Not only that but when a vehicle arrives to help one of the injured the apache gunner is very eager to then open fire on them, which he does once he's give permission.

Another case of trigger happy americans? shocking video :P

I dont blame them for opening fire as aside from the photogrophers there were people there with guns and one guy took up a defensive position with what did look like an RPG.

They would of had to make a call based on that and in that scenario the photogrophers knew the risks in being in a war zone.

What i found horrible was the gunners conduct and eagerness to open fire on a van which was helping a wounded man.

Even before that when the guy was crawling away, the gunner had his crosshair pointing at him begging for a reason to shoot.

The joking around and begging to shoot was disturbing "i got him right through the windscreen" "nice"

But then again maybe a level of detachment is needed to operate during warfare, i could not possibly comment on that aspect of things.

With ground troops approaching, i thought it would have been better to intercept the van with armoured vehicles.

there was definitely at least one AK-47 there.

I find the whole thing very worrying, but then again - I am the biggest coward going, so I wouldnt really have any grounds to criticise fellas who put their lives on the line every single minute of every single day.

I think if there is more accountability, then the trigger happy gunners might be a little more cautious where they open fire. Blue on blue is not exactly uncommon, maybe a reduction in "trigger happy" squaddies might help reduce that a little.

What is more important however is the fact that the US military have tried to cover it up by lying about the events surrounding the killings.

one thing is for sure - the leak of this video will do the Americans reputation in the middle east no favours whatsoever.

that doesn't take away anything from the fact that they made a mistake, and made it worse by firing on civilians (including two kids) who were trying to rescue one of the wounded..

"we're engaging"... no, you're killing

"look at those dead bastards"... "nice"

the more you look at it, you have to wonder...

would a group of people who were about to mount some kind of attack be wondering around the streets, in their shorts, as relaxed as they were?
