Getting to the East from the West

I have a similar, but opposite, problem to another poster on here - getting to the "wrong" car parks.

I will be arriving from the North West, down the M5. In the past I have come off at junction 23, then A39 to Street and A361 all the way to the festival, where I end up in the West car parks. But this time I want to head for the East car parks.

It looks as if, from Street, I could go down the B3151 towards Somerton, and from there to the A37 and back up the Blue route.

Anyone done this? Any better ideas?

I would be tempted to take the A39 to Wells and the A371 to Shepton Mallet, this way you spend the minimum amount of time on the A37 which will be busy

Why do you care which car park you arrive at?

The East car parks are closer to the intended camping spot, and a LOT closer than the furthest ones on the West.

The Wells/Shepton Mallet idea looks a possibility - thanks.

Well i'm a local and would def take the Wells/Shepton option to avoid the stretch of A37 from the A303!

When you hit the junction of A37 down to Pylle and East CP, and A361 back to Glastonbury and West CP, can you go either way or will police/stewards direct the way they want you to go?

I've heard both, if you want to guarantee not getting stuck, I'd work may way around to the correct side before getting too close. Although in theory traffic shouldn't be gridlocked this year like last.

thanks, I need to get from east to west as we always end up in east!! So will follow your directions.

west is a hop and a skip from where we camp!

Definately recommend approaching from the 'right' side if you really have a preference! We live 10 mins from the A37 but always drive to glastonbury to make sure we get in the west carparks. Though one year it didnt work and we got waved thru pilton to the east side - Damn Hill!

On a lighter note i was just looking at the fine guide map and my 2 year old said - Wow, a treasure map! It certainly is!!
