still at it. its starting to feel that ive got to climb Everest in the next seven weeks and the weather does not help. luckily i've a diamond geezer as a helping hand. strong as an ox and an expert sander. was supposed to surf the bore this mprning but couldn't afford the time off... here's a pic of some of the top sections of the tree. hoping to turn a piece of it into an acoustic egg chiar.

this morning i collected an interesting hollow ash stick from on top of the hill above the festival site (turn up hill next to the Pilton Stores) although it looks small in the pic it is actually 9 feet long and tapers from almost 5 feet wide down to about 3 feet. not quite sure what to do with it yet , but as it is so local to the festival i would love to get it there this year....suggestions?........couldnt see any sign of any fence yet.

will try to take a photo of the site from the top of the hill in the morning as i am collecting some Yew from the same place.

The cross-section and the inside looks really cool. The shape is interesting too. Why not cut a slice for use as a stand for a table and use a glass top. You could maybe even light it from the bottom so when sat at the table you can look at the illuminated interior of the wood.

Just an idea, good luck with it and hope to see it this year whatever you do with it.

another really long, hard, funny and productive day today. spent the day sawing a large lump of the tree into 4 quadrants while being ganged up upon and bullied by a posse of rude Fresians. The highlight of the day for Ste was me screaming and losing control of my biggest chainsaw....i got hit on the elbow by an electric fence in the middle of a big cut. he thought it was hilarious and i felt as if i had had a large dose of hardcore stimulants. livened me up no end.still, a good day. got loads done. now enjoying a well earned beer.
