cammie81
Anyone on t mobile can now sign up to use Orange signal when no t signal available at: http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/share/ Due to merger. Not sure if Orange have equivalent.
Paul ™
Rarely use my phone (o2) at Glastonbury but never had any major problems. Better just to agree pre-arranged meeting points/times if you are that worried about loosing your mates

worthyraver
O2 in my experience of the last two Glastonbury's was dreadful, mates with iPhones (could only be on O2 in 2009), it was not worth texting them as they got the message the following day, if at all. Three and T-Mobile are merging their networks, will complete next year and if you use Orange you can use T-Mobile and verse-versa. Therefore if you are on Orange Three or T-Mobile this will give you excellent coverage wherever you are including the Glastonbury site. I have been with Three (2009) and T-Mobile (2010) always been excellent, even getting data, handy to check that MJ really was dead in 2009!!! essex_jim
I took a PAYG Tesco's mobile last year. It was useless, got a signal about 3 times in total during the festival, each time getting a barrage of texts, half of them from mates trying to meet up. I wouldn't take an iPhone as the battery runs out way too fast, and I'd be tempted to update Facebook whilst watching a band.
MrZigster
Agree with everyone about Orange. Has any reply slated Orange? No. End of discussion. The biggest, recurring problem people will have with their mobile devices is running out of power. Wind up chargers = rubbish. Solar chargers = rubbish (well, my mates was anyway). Queuing for the Orange tent = rubbish. Spare batteries are the way to go. My usual disclaimer, about not standing next to me rabbiting to your mates about what a great time you are having, while everyone else is trying to listen to a band applies

essex_jim
I charged mine at one of those stalls, a fiver and barely any queue. An hour or so later, job done. Along with my perfect signal I can honestly say I've never had it so easy at a festival with a mobile. Christ I remember going back 10 years when phones were starting to become popular you just didn't even bother bringing it to a festival! coma girl
I used orange this year and had no problems. Taking spare batteries is definately the way forward, we were camped near the orange charging tent and the queue every day was tragic, f**k wasting hours of your day doing that. As for paying a fiver to charge your phone, I got a spare battery from ebay for £1.70, much better value imo and no time spent waiting for the phone to charge. essex_jim
Couldn't care less, a fiver is hardly breaking the bank, I wouldn't have done it either unless I really needed to. Spare battery? I will probably never need it again, and by the time you've paid postage you'd be close to a fiver anyway. No, I made the right decision. A fivers alot for what it is, but then so is everything else at Glastonbury. The sky high food prices are more concerning.

Paul ™
Each to their own I suppose. I find having a spare battery handy, never know when I might need it and the price I paid included postage.
rexclark
Have to say i agree with the spare battery idea. I've got two Sony ericcson batteries and they easily lasted me the whole weekend.
4AssedMonkey
I got a new mobile on 3 last spring and it was fine all weekend reception wise all over the site. Think that they have a piggy-back arrangement with the Orange network so Orange would be fine too.
shukeli
For years I've had bother with 02 - no reception, texts not being sent or received etc but this year I had no worries, not sure why but I hope it continues. I take a portable charger which uses AAA batteries for my Nokia, only needed to charged twice when I was there and could avoid the hideous Orange tent queue (which is pointless unless you queue first thing in the morning and hope it's not raining at the same time). I got it off Ebay for £1.50 including postage. Checking out the 24hour stalls on the last evening, the exact same charger could be bought for £15... ian the worm
Orange network works well until you knock a full cider pint into your phone pocket whilst changing an ale barrell. You should never mix you see.
