luckysalt
I reckon the only reason they are offereing refunds is because he thinks no-one will take them as they enjoy the weekend on a whole anyway, and then he can throw it back in our face we offered refunds and no-one wanted one, so we must be doing something right, kind of BS
tohellweride
I just hope he pulls something extra out of the bag for the friday. Just a few more decent bands would do but probably not going to happen. I'm not really arsed, there are about 20+ bands I want to see and that's more than a big enough challenge to do when you've been drinking all weekend! Secret bands maybe? Gallows? cornucopia
f**k snoop, f**k dizzy w*nker, and f**k all other rap acts. if you want rap, go to a rap festival.
armthehomeless
f**k that - a lot of rockers/metalheads are fans of other types of music and would enjoy the opportunity to go see something a little different. Why the f**k should other peoples' close-mindedness/intolerance deprive us of something we'd enjoy? If you don't like an act don't go and see them, it's as simple as that. I hate HIM, so I'm not going to see them - I'm not going to bitch and say they shouldn't be on the bill. The same should apply if one or two other genre acts play. bekimo
people were crying this year that the festival wasnt generic metal enough rock fans officially take over chavs on their intolerence to open their mind to other music. Sad fact.
LethalLegacy
I consider myself to be a huge metal fan, but an open-minded one at that. My personal take is that the line-up isn't as good this year - to me, its lacking in real good quality 'underground' metal - it doesn't have anyone like Amon Amarth or Dimmu Borgir (I suppose they're passable as mainstream now) which Download did have in previous years. I look down the lower stages and it wasn't really until they announced 3 Inches of Blood and Napalm Death that I had anything to really get excited about in that sense. The metal acts they had confirmed didn't do a lot for me for the following reasons: 1. Had listened to them but never really got into them - bands like Sybreed and Die Apokalyptischen Reiter. 2. Relatively unknown - bands like Imicus and Revoker who may well be worth checking out, but of course, they're not strong names yet. 3. Finally, it seemed Download's take on heavy either produced metalcore and deathcore (JFAC, August Burns Red, Whitechapel et al), or produced bands from the 'New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal' (bands like White Wizzard and Holy Grail who, like most of the rest of the new wave, I wish would simply go away). 3 Inches of Blood differentiate in that they weren't riding the bandwagon and at least have their own identity. Overall, the line-up is good, there's plenty there I wish to see, across rock, punk, hardcore and more. I would also have been happy to see Dizzee Rascal and other mainstream acts there this year - although of course it isn't to be. But for the metal fan in me, they've not got it right. The organisers have simply gone for what's in at the moment, and not much else. I can see why some rock and metal fans aren't happy, though I do wish one or two of them were a little more open-minded!!! ***I think as well, when you see some of the acts touring the festivals around the time Download takes place, its a bit of a kick in the teeth to see those who seem to have passed by, e.g. Bad Religion, Danzig, Dizzee Rascal, Behemoth, etc. - to me, all those acts are quality in their own ways. I don't see how Download have let some of them slip, unless of course the organisers simply aren't interested in them. Spengs Muck
no doubt there are bands they 'could' have or 'should' have got, but somebody somewhere will say that every year. What annoys me is there are some people think this festival should be solely metal. Thats not what it is. It's a rock festival, this encompasses ALL kinds of rock. Its 30 years of ROCK at Donington. Not Metal. Thats what some people need to realize.

FenellaJ
I totally agree with a lot of what has been said here about AC's unprofessional, childish attitude. I'm not an ACDC fan at all so I'm not bought off with that 'oooh its ACDC' line he keeps spinning. I'll be at the bar since there will be naff all else to do apparently! I'm still gonna go, cos I love rock festivals generally but the line up doesn't blow me away (yet?) If he doesn't deliver me some of that 'humble pie' in the next couple of weeks I'll be the first to throw that back in his face like the two-year-old he makes me revert to! Not long now anyway, I'm packing the sunshine!
biffoire
Wouldn't surprise me if the bars closed for acdc. Wouldn't want people walking around during the performance.
