Castle Cary Shuttle

This is my first year travelling to Glasto on public transport and I was wondering how good the shuttle bus service is from Castle Cary.

My train from Temple Meads gets to Castle Cary for 14:16 on the Wednesday afternoon. How long can I reasonably expect to take from then to getting to site?

Also is there a different entrance for shuttle busses and is it any quicker than the usual car park entry?

Thanks in advance people.

Finger in the air, estimate an hour from station to site, including queueing.

But that's very rough. Don't set yourself any expectations, and then you won't be disappointed.

If you arrive just in time for the football, you might be better advised to go and find a campsite anyway. The best spots will be going by the minute. Maybe pitch the outer as quick as you can, then rush back for the second half...

The shuttle bus uses a different route to the site from cars, etc so barring accidents there shouldn't be a problem. Of course there may be a huge queue at the entry gates and you may have to wait for a bus as several hundred Glasto punters pile off the train together, but I've generally not had problems.

That said, I've been 6 times and always caught the train & shuttle bus. I'd never consider going any other way.

Oh, get up at stupid o'clock (5-ish) on the Monday and you shouldn't have too much trouble getting back either.

The best point in the weekend (almost) is when the bus comes around a corner and you see the whole festival spread out in front of you. If you've not been before, prepare to have your mind blown.
