The Trip Festival, 28th-30th May, Anglesey

The appropriately named ‘Trip Festival’ is new on the festival scene this year. Friday the 28th of May sees the opening of the festival and there’s no excuses for not being there as it’s Bank Holiday weekend so you can have that extra day to recover from ‘The Trip’ - if you so choose to go on one.

The theme and genre for the festival is psychedelica, which in my opinion should be the theme for every festival, and the organisers have really outdone themselves in the bands and DJs they’ve chosen to coincide with the theme.

On the band front we’ll see performances from upcoming Scottish band Django Django who’ll pretty much blow your mind. Other bands playing are Auckland natives the Ruby Suns who’ll treat you to some experimental psych-folk amongst other things. The ones to watch this year, British-folk band Erland and the Carnival, are also on the bill and it should be a good 'un as they’ll probably still be on a buzz from supporting Paul Weller the night before.

If the bands are anything to go by then the DJs are sure to be equally as irresistible. DJ Mixmaster Morris will be there playing his ambient sounds alongside Richard Norris who’ll be presenting his Time and Space Machine…..show.

The family-friendly festival will be set on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, North Wales, a mere 200 metres from the beach – so be sure to pack your swimmers and other seaside paraphernalia. Plus, you can always climb Snowdon on your way home – if you’re feeling up to it.

The festival will run from 28th of May to the 30th of May and tickets are priced at £70 for adults (includes camping), £30 for youngsters aged from 10-16 and under 10’s are free if accompanied by a full paying adult. Day tickets are also available.
