Campervans at Glastonbury

Hi,

I have just bought a campervan which I would like to take to Glastonbury.

having been on the official site, it says that any vans must have either fitted washing or cooking facilities, as well as sleeping accommodation.

my van doesn't have any fitted cooking or washing facilities, so does this mean I wont be able to take it? the reason I ask is the guy I bought it off, who took it to glasto a few times, said it doesn't actually matter if you havent got washing or cooking stuff fitted and the stewards aren't bothered when you get there.

Can anybody with some experience of this help me? or tell me if the rules might have got stricter this year?

Cheers,

Aaron

Is it a campervan or is it something that has been converted for sleeping?

Essentially the idea was to stop people sleeping in the back of transit type vans etc. if you have fixed fitting like the bed and cupboards, and it is obviously a campervan you will be fine. A mattress and a bucket slung in the back of a van it is a different matter :P

So its not a campervan anymore then, its a van with a bed in. I'd be concerned if I was you. You may get lucky if it looks like a campervan from the outside and not get pulled over for an interior check up. I've had many years experience of the campervan fields at Glasto, both in campervans and normal vans. I wouldn't risk it.

Solution, IF your van still looks like a campervan from the outside then go and buy a kitchen hob/sink unit off Ebay to fix into your van, quickly! I did this once, fixed an old £25 vw kitchen unit into my normal transit panel van, did the job. Or risk getting turned away at the gates.

Good luck anyway.

I'm one of the stewards who checks.

Youve got a VW camper which still has the bed in it but nothing else? Youll be fine. As long as your not turning up with a white van with a mattress chucked in the back we dont care.

So yeah, dont stress trying to stick a kitchen back in there if you dont want one :s
