oafc0000
Cheers mate, How do I back up files? I'm a bit dumb when it comes to technology. Only know how to get onto the internet and install games and that's it
BlackHole2006
Simple copy paste... Right click copy folder... Paster folder on the desktop or something After reinstall, if the files have gone, replace the itunes folder with the one on the desktop and then go to FILE - ADD FOLDER TO LIBRARY Done... I don't think it will remove the folder though but best not risking ...

ampersand
right heres the problem. all my music is on an external hard drive and i had a power surge. normally when this happens, everything is fine. however, now every single track is showing up with the exclamation mark, so no songs will play back to back. anyway to fix this other than clicking them all individually or putting them all back on cos i don't want to do either

ampersand
Can you play them directly ?Like if you go to the file and right click then play in what ever program? Sounds like just delete from library and re-import it should do the trick, as this would update all the file locations.
Gre
Didn't really want to start a new thread for this; I've got a few mp3 files that have been ripped from youtube videos (crap quality etc, I know, but its all stuff that I'd never be able to get commercially like Gorillaz on Steven Colbert) They play in media player, VLC etc just fine They import into itunes and show up just fine They don't play in itunes - when you pick them it skips onto the next track They don't play on my old ipod mini or classic, synced through itunes. The weird bit; they play perfectly on my iphone, synced through itunes. Anyone got any idea for a quick fix? I suppose if I 'remade' the file in Audacity that should fix it, but it seems like a bit of a faff.

Gre
Could it be the file location of the mp3's are different to when you 1st put them in? That the only reason I ever found my songs not playing/syncing in Itunes unless they are the wrong type of files but they wouldn't show up in the 1st place.
