If you can find out what the delays are like on the day, I'd defer the decision.

The shuttle gets you MUCH closer to the gate. If things are working smoothly, it's the best option.

OTOH if things are not working smoothly, you'll wish you'd taken the lift.

One extra consideration -- have you thought about the logistics of this, and how much of a pain in the arse it will be for her?

- you don't have an accurate idea of what time you'll arrive -- the trains schedule is likely to be fairly unpredictable

- she has unpredictable traffic to contend with

One of you is going to be waiting at Castle Cary, for the other.

She's going to have to negotiate roads with nasty queues, heading for Castle Cary when she really wants to be at the festival.

Thinking about it, the bus would be your best bet, *unless* there's a cock up with the shuttles. Perhaps you could come up with a plan wherein you can phone her if the shuttles look borked?

Last year we had a police escort for about 10 buses from castle cary.

They blocked roads, let us go the wrong side of the road etc.

I imagine if that if there are traffic problems again then this will happen.
