Any glasses wearers?

2007 I used contacts most of the time, mainly cos it didnt stop raining! last year used glasses, they were fine, swapped for sunnies when needed.

This year I'll be sticking with glasses (as I have run out of contacts - and dont think Ill get anymore before glasto) but I would say, bring both if you have them - best of both worlds then!

Do as i did and get lasered!! :P

It totally made My Glasto last year not to poke contacts in my eye wondering if my hands were truly clean and not having to look for glasses in a pitch-black tent cos I couldn't see where the torch was in the dark wothout my glasses!! :P

If you work out the cost of daily contacts, lasering pays for itself in 2 years. The earlier in life you get it done, the better value it is, because it'll last until old age starts deteriorating your eyes.

As for the choice between contacts and glasses at Glastonbury -- if you're a habitual glasses wearer, I can't see any reason to switch to contacts. Cleanliness is a challenge. Take a spare pair, and don't get into any moshes while wearing them.

It appears I am going against the majority in this but I would say contacts all the way!!!

I have been wearing glasses to festies for the last 5 years and they are a pain in the @rse!!!

Taking both this year for contacts at the stages and night entertainment and then slam on the galsses around the camp...you should be fine putting them in and taking them out, just dont forget to take them out and make sure you have a handy mirror to be able to see!!

While we're on the subject, it always amazes me how many friends and colleagues of mine could onviously do with some kind of visual correction, but are to vain/in denial to get it sorted.

I normally wear all day/all night contacts so don't need to worry about taking them out and putting them back in everyday. Really easy to use, comfy and you can just forget about them. Much easier than glasses.

Good thread tho because you've reminded me that I need to book and opticians appointment.

Edit: Just remember that my old boss had his eyes lasered about 3 years ago and he's already noticed that his eye sight is going. Apparently its because he works at a computer all day which isn't good for your eyes and once you've had them lasered once you can't do it again so he spend a shit load of money on credit to get 2 years specs free!

I had mine done on interest free credit - the best *gulp* 3 grand I have ever spent! It was about 5 years ago since I had it done hence the high price tag I guess plus I never went with the cheapest provider - I went with a company who publishes their success rates and provides unlimited aftercare. I figure it'll pay for itself in about 10 years as I would spend at LEAST 300 quid a year on new glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses and solutions etc.

I wore glasses for nearly 30 years and I still find myself pushing an imaginary pair up my nose!!

Anyway - back to the original question - I always went down the glasses route for gigs. I could never see quite as well with contact lenses as I could with my glasses - and my eyes would always dry out at gigs with the heat etc. Plus i've lost count of the amount of times i'd end up sleeping in them as I was too messy to take them out!! :P
