Tipis

There's six of us in a tipi this year and my paranoid mate is starting to get twitchy about the size , so I'd like to find out exactly how big they are.

Does anybody know the diameter of the tipis?

Or know which company supplies the tipis so I can ask them?

Is six people in a tipi a bit of a squash or a nice roomy setup with adequate space for everbody's stuff?

Thanks

I enquired about tipis after last years festival this is the reply I got form Hearthworks:

Hi

Thanks for your enquiry about Tipis at Glastonbury Festival.

The Tipis are generally 5.5 m diameter, although they do have an 'egg - shaped' footprint so the the diameter is not constant.

All the Tipis sleep up to 6 adults.

Now we provide all the Tipis with rainhats or raincatchers so any drips from the centre hole in the Tipi have been reduced to a minimum. You Tipi should only get a few drips in severe rain, in light rain it stays completely dry.

The Tipis are much cooler in the sun than a plastic tent (and of course more spacious, light, beautiful etc.)

Best wishes

Tara x

Stayed in Tipi's last year and it was great. You can get six in no problem and the space outside is just fantastic. As long as your fellow campers keep it tidy there's more than enough room

They do let in a wee bit of rain when it pours but it was so good we've booked one again this year.

Evening,

Another tipi question - how is each tipi allocated? Is it on a first come, first served basis?

We've booked one for six of us and some of our group are already getting worried that we'll be left with the worst one :P

Looking to get to the site on Thursady morning.....

Thanks!

6 of us stayed in a tipi lat year and there was plenty of room. The only problem was the rain coming in the middle (the raincatcher didn't fit very well on ours) which meant we had to sleep round the edges really and couldn't use the middle space... even then there was plenty of room.

No privacy though... although you might not want to mention that to your twitchy mate :P

  • 2 weeks later...

Tipis get allocated as people arrive.. we picked our own anyway, presume everyone else got to pick too.

Theres oodles of room for six people.. we had two double inflatable beds and 2 single beds and there was still a massive living space free in the middle and by the door.

Ours leaked loads.. all over.. thankfully it was the last nite so we werent trying to dry all our stuff. We're hoping the raincatchers are better arranged this year.
