WildChildRockChick
What with people being generally unreliable in recent years, Im considering an RIP ticket for next year. I'll be fed up if I pay out for it & then other ppl get standard tix (I know they won't pay out for RIP!!!) but if Im on my own I'll be sorry I didn't... Anyway. I know RIP it has various benefits - camping next to your car, guest area passes etc and Im quite tempted. BUT I also know they're expensive, although I don't know how expensive. About double? Does anyone know how much RIP was this year? I assume it includes car parking, do you have to buy other extras (lockers, etc)? Has anyone been RIP before? Was it worth it? Most RIPpers seem to say yes, and they'll never go back to standard. Is it really that good? Is it a good place to camp if you're on your own? I know Downloaders are great, but RIP seems a bit.. cliquey.. sometimes, is that the case? Any info gratefully considered, thank you
metalman
We've paid about £350 per ticket this year including all the fees. hope this helps \m/
Lithium05
Are RIP and VIP the same thing? Or are there some things you can do in one that you can't do in the other.
metalman
there the same as far as i've found out, the only other thing you can get above RIP is a press/band access all areas pass for the side of the stage and to another bar where the bands hang out near where the bands trailers are. t8yman
RIP and VIP are two completely different setups. vip can use the rip guest bar, but thats the only crossover. theres a thread about it on the official forums in the rip forum. bekimo
Shit! I thought they were the same thing! I was offered a free VIP ticket and I was like "no thanks, i have standard camping. I prefer to camp with the peasants!" Oh now i feel stupid!
WildChildRockChick
Thanks all. Bekimo, no it's not the same, RIP has all sorts of extras, hot showers, proper loos, park next to your tent, a goody bag. It's clean, tidy & much more secure. You iz officially a Silly Girl. (next time some offers you VIP & you declare that you don't want it, offer it to me, I'll take your arm off for it!!! ) Thanks metalman, I was kinda thinking it was around the £350 a ticket mark. It's a lot of money... a fair chunk of the ticket money for another festival, tbf. So, you'll be RIP this year. Can we expect a report from you after the festival regarding whether or not you considered it to be worth (in your opinion) the extra? (or have you been RIP in previous years and can already recommend it)?
metalman
a full report will follow after download, I agree it is a lot but this is our holiday this year so it's cheaper than going standard at DL and then going to Spain for a week so it's just weighing up the pro's and cons. As long as the sun shines the Jager flows, my cool box stays cool in the boot and I get my hands on some vodka jellies I won't mind the price
WildChildRockChick
Thanks Totally with you on the summer holiday thing - Download & Glastonbury are my summer holidays, with extra weekends tacked on where I can for whatever - near the top of that list is the Bulldog Bash, in August and if I had the money probably Sonisphere (because it's just up the road) and maybe a winter 'do' as well. Oh, for a £50-note tree in my garden (the garden I'd have if I lived in a house not a first floor flat... )
