wacko
I think U2 will make it but if they don't// Macca or Chems for me, but who are we kidding it'll be Coldplay or just Dizzie Rascal moved up a slot.
Guitargeek4
My dream band would be Metallica, but I think my dog winning the next elections is more likely and its not really a band that fits at Glastonbury, even though I remember seeing Nine Inch Nails back in 2000 headlining the other stage. In the spirit of Glasto, my bands would be (keeping in mind this is a headlining slot) Aerosmith (impossible, they are playing in Belgium) ACDC (possible, they are playing in Spain next day) Bon Jovi (impossible as playing in the USA on the 24th) Coldplay (not touring) Dr. Dre (I think he is 10000x times better than JayZ, so why not? he is not touring though) Elton John (Unlikely, plays in Belarus the next day) Eric Clapton (impossible as playing in the USA next day) Foo Fighters (Not on tour) Meat Loaf (Starts Touring in early July, so why not?) Pearl Jam (Playing in London that same day, so no way) Pink Floyd (yeah, close to impossible I know ) The Police (playing in the USA next day) Prodigy (They play in Luxembourg on the 27th, so that gives them enough room to play) REM (Not touring) Radiohead (They finished touring a month ago.. but was just Thom Yorke from what I see) Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Not Touring) So out of all those, I'd say Meat Loaf and The Prodigy are the most likely due to availability and the fact that they are already on the road or in Meat Loaf's case starting to tour a week after Glasto. Ozzy Osbourne starts touring the UK a less than a week after Glastonbury. Guns N' Roses are a band I wouldnt mind... but with Slash playing the same Festival is probably impossible. Bands that could headline that have new albums being released soon after/before Glasto: Smashing Pumkins Paul Weller Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Maroon 5 The Strokes And it's almost 4am and I ran out of ideas and energy to dig into tour dates and stuff, hehe. fosterman
i dont know enough about this sort of injury but are we saying that we think its more likely U2 will pull out or play the friday? thanks
Guitargeek4
Lets actually think about this. In 95 when the stone roses pulled out, pulp, the 2nd headliner got bumped up. In 05 when kylie dropped out basement jaxx moved from other headliner to pyramid headliner. This makes it pretty likely that its either gonna be dizzee or the lips. And if its not them then all this talk of led zep, biffy???, meatloaf, RATM is just not gonna happen. It will either be coldplay, radiohead or the chems, probably in that order. However, i still think that U2'll play. It would be a big hit to bono's ego to not play glasto because he was injured.

In transit
One thing. Arcade Fire are not exclusive to Leeds Reading. They are headlining Latitude. Maybe to many headlines for one season but definitely could do it although I think not.
disasterplan
In 2004 both Jet and The Libertines pulled out at short notice. They were replaced by Badly Drawn Boy and Supergrass - neither of whom were originally on the bill. Of course, neither were headlining but it shows they've got enough bands willing to do it if there's a slot available. I suspect they might even book a handful of acts just to have them on standby in case they're needed. If U2 don't make it, my money's on Coldplay or Gorillaz. Bort
Speaking of Gorillaz, why isn't Little Dragon playing? Their absence on the lineup is an epic fail.

JoeyDeacon
My money is on U2 making it or failing that Dizzee being bumped up. If I could hold sway i'd stick Radiohead, RATM or Daft Punk in that slot

pjadnoo
All this talk of replacements for U2 seems to be going the way of the TBC slots. i.e. headed straight towards disappointment. Our predictions were the likes of Coldplay, Thom Yorke and Gorillaz, and instead we get Rolf, Tinchy Strider and Yeovil Town Band... My bet is that if U2 do pull out, any rumours of huge replacement bands are unlikely to become reality.
lee_
all that is going to happen is they will move everyone up a slot, and fill an earlier slot with someone playing a different stage. U2 will still play anyway.

MEGABOWL
From what I understand, punters are entitled to a refund if there's a significant change to the billing, and if U2 get dropped for a much smaller band then that undoubtedly counts as a significant change.
