Campervan Field question

OK silly Funky fairy question time

We are planning to arrive on Tuesday evening , as out boat is overnight on Monday. Are we likely to be placed near Pedestian gate C .... and at the bottom of the hill ---- is that how it works. Is gate at the bottom of the hill?

Bit worried as we have a v big van, and if it rains and gets muddy are we likely to be in trouble(eg cannot get out) at the bottom of the hill?

Also presumably the nearer the gate you are and the path the more people are walking past the the noisier it is .... I like it a little quiet when I'm asleep (getting old)

Are we better to leave it and get there early on Wednesday or I worrying about nothing and being a total stress head?

If you've got kids youll end up pretty close to the hill but no one is parked at the bottom of it, thatd be a nightmare on monday!

No kids then youll be in a different section and nowhere near any hills :) It never seemed particularly noisy anywhere in the campervan fields so its all good. I had to spend some boring nights standing on a firetower last year watching nothing happen in the campervan bit :P

They only seem to use the field of the Hill of Death as either Crew Campervans or overflow. It is likely that the people arriving on Tuesday night will be put in one field together to minimise stewarding, however you can always ask for Family Campervans as that is quieter

In the past we have arrived on the Wednesday Morning (About 9.30 ish) and driven on to what was E17.

East 17 has now moved, it was the field just below E24 on the map.

What was E17 is now not numbered and I think is now the crew camping which used to be on E24.

This year we are hoping to arrive on the Tuesday and pitch on E24.

The top of the field is fairly flat but it does drop away towards the fence to a point where it is too steep to park up.

Do you get much say in which field you put your van in?

This is our first year in our VW and Mrs RM will be 7 months pregnant at the time of the festival so we'd like to be near the gate to cut down on how far she walks.

Also we're planning on coming down on the Tuesday, has anyone heard if the CV fields are opening earlier than the carparks or are they both just opening at 9pm?

When can we gain vehicular access to the camper/caravan fields?

From 1200 hours Tuesday 22nd June until 1400 hours Sunday 27th June, and then from 1800 hours Monday 28th June.

If you tell them at the gate they probably point you in the right direction.

Arrived Thursday last year and was asked where I wanted to go.

They start in the fields closest to pedestrian gate C, so you get the option of either the field they are filling or the Family camper van field. The later you arrive the further from the gate you are.

9pm seems to be the time at the moment.
