swordfish
Most arcade fire songs are edging on the 5 ot 6 minute mark so the songs are quite long, This got me worried about how many songs they will be able to fit in, However they managed to fit in 12 in 2007 second on the bill, So I relly do not know what to expect, any thoughts? wooga
they will have a 90 minutes set? that is about enough to fit in every track from both albums.so the set should have the best tracks from the first two and a few more from the third album being release soon. rexclark
I'd add maybe another 4 or 5 songs maybe, Kings Of Leon played 20 last year, Killers played 16 in 08 and Rage played 15 the same year all in headliner spots.
Nick.W
Yeah, i'd hope for at least 15 i reckon. They seem to vary what they play live a fair bit, and with a 3rd album out, its gonna make it harder to guess what they play... Personally hoping Windowsill gets an airing, which would make me very happy indeed.
Dave The Hedgehog
I finally get this band.I haven't understood them for ages because I've never really sat down and listened to their music but given several spare driving hours in relatively grey weather, I get them. I can't wait to see them. I feel like I'm late to a party nobody invited me to.

rockinthecasbah
Though it wouldn't fit in at all with the rest of the set, and would probably be of no interest to all but a few, I'd love them to play Cars and Telephones.
Dave The Hedgehog
But catching them in there first major headline gig is gonna be something special so at least you'll be there.
rexclark
Yes. I will, won't I? I listened to 'Wake Up' and within 30 seconds I was convinced that that was as close as I was ever going to listening to the combined voice of every God there has ever been. Dave The Hedgehog
Wake Up is going to be epic. I will actually be close to tears.
Yellow_Fellow
Argh I really want to see Arcade Fire but I equally want to see Pendulum.Pendulum will have a more intense crowd with a higher energy...Arcade Fire will have a more special crowd with better atmosphere. j...rox
Pendulum will be a lot easier to see than AF, they may do another arena tour next year, but otherwise you're waiting till the next album. Pendulum are DJing at my uni, ok granted not playing the full set but much easier to see.
Yellow_Fellow
Yeah that's a good point. It's also only a matter of time before Pendulum're headlining too Edited May 31, 2010 by Yellow_Fellow
rexclark
I would not miss Arcade Fire, it'll be a religious experience.
rockinthecasbah
If they end on Wake Up followed by Rebellion (Lies) as they often do it could push for one of my favourite live moments.Anyone got any paticularly good live clips of them? I've seen a fair few live videos from them, and they always look brilliant, but this one's always blown me away-
Dave The Hedgehog
You know who they remind me of? The Comsat Angels. Hardly anybody has ever heard of them - not as moody as Joy Division, not as righteous and bombastic as U2. Not quite as experimental as Teardrop Explodes, not quite as straight-forward as Echo & The Bunnymen. Not quite as far out at Wire, not quite as abstract as Gang of Four. Somewhere in between the lot of them. Never popular outside a few Peel Sessions but... deep. One of best forgotten bands of the Post Punk era. mjsell
I'm seeing them at oxegen festival in July aswell as reading. The Irish love arcade fire more than people here do I would say - if its anything like this i'd be happy.poor audio quality, cant see them either - but what an atmosphere. Cant wait. rockinthecasbah
You're getting confused - it's typically Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) into Rebellion (Lies). The transition for that on the Funeral tour (and the first bit of the Neon Bible tour) is the single greatest piece of live music I've heard. The crescendo as Power Out finishes, everything seeming all over the place yet completely together exploding in to a cacophony of noises until the bass line from Rebellion kicks, everything settles down and the transition is complete.Immense.Then finishing with Wake Up after that to close the encore is the icing on the cake. swordfish
I'm just hoping they don't leave any of the first 3 neighbourhoods out all three are as epic as the first time I heard them I supose if they leave one out it will be laika but I would love to hear all three
j-j-j-j-joe!
Looking at their previous setlists, they'll probably have enough time to do all the major songs from the first two albums, as well as some new stuff. Although they may have to squeeze some songs out to make more room for new stuff. I'm guessing it will probably be some of the smaller ones such as Bad Vibrations or Well And the Lighthouse. There'd be riots if they left out songs like Wake Up, No Cars Go and Antichrist Television Blues.
