bag versus quilt

i have done iow fest for the last two years and me and the girly have used sleeping bags, i dont sleep too well in bags, (im a wriggler!), so i am contemplating taking a quilt, along with my 2 single airbeds, is the extra bulk worth it or should i carry on with bags???

I take a duvet every year to Glastonbury, I'd say it's definitely worth it.

If you do take duvets and not sleeping bags, make sure you take a sheet for the airbeds. They're not very comfortable for sleeping directly onto without a cover.

Get yourself to poundland and buy a large vacubag. It'll mean the quilt is half as bulky.

They work reasonably well by rolling the air out then sealing without the need for a vacuum cleaner!

I've used sleeping bags for years at Glasto and other festivals. Went away camping this weekend and tried the duvet it was soooooooooooooooooooooo much more comfortable. Those mummy sleeping bags are inhuman. Would agree with the sheet for the mattress though

Quilt is the way to go everytime. sleeping bags are evil contraptions of torture

Another luxury I take, is a blanket to put on top of the airbed, but under the sheet. Airbeds can be quite cold to sleep onto directly.

See now I take a sleeping bag but use it as a quilt by unzipping all the way, tucking my feet inside the bottom & then laying it over me. Keeps me nice & toasty, has wriggle room & the bonus of being a lot lighter than a duvet!

Get a sleeping bag that's made out of quilt material, and is a plain rectangle shape (not mummy style). I did this and have never looked back since, beats them both

I would never take my duvet to glasto! Too big and bulky, where as my sleeping bag fits into the tiny bag, keeps me warm and if i get cold, i just chuck on some more clothes

Also, the trick is to sleep with a warm hat on..

I've got a lightweight mummy bag and have bought a seperate silk liner for it, i'm hoping this is going to be a nice combo

My missus has stopped coming to glasto now, but we used to have the sleeping bags you can zip together into a giant bag... man they were rubbish!

Only the weight of a quilt put me off, but sounds like a winner. If i hadn't decieded to go as light as possible this year I'd be tempted!

Sleeping bags aren't normally waterproof either.

I know this from my very uncomfortable night's sleep on the first night at Bestival 08, having carried my sleeping bag in a rucksack in the rain. Carry in a watertight bag, kids!
