Cash and kids

For the first time I'm bringing my kids and I'm wondering how much cash will be enough. My kids are 4 and 6 and I planing on buying most of the food at the festival I realise this is the expensive option but bringing lots offood is not really an option.

I know I should have a rough idea but my normal habits at a festival are hardly eating at all I just tend to forget to

I think last year the going rate per portion of food was about £6-7....we've made the mistake of buying separate portions for our own kids and it's usually either dropped by accident on the floor (paper plates and kids = accident!), or they say they don't like it!

I would suggest you take some plastic bowls with you, and then you can give them a bit of what you've got and know it won't have cost you any more, and it won't end up as part of their outfit! Kids love sporks as well!

I would also suggest taking a bag of fruit that travels well, cos although they sell it onsite it was ridiculously expensive.

If you're happy for the kids to live on chips and burgers there are loads of those, and some great pasta places, but do try and get them to try different foods as it's a great opportunity to introduce them to something a little more grown up!

One other "must have" is as many wet wipes as you can carry!!

Good luck and enjoy it

I've take 3 kids (now aged 8, 11 & 14) for the last 3 years & we buy all our food @ the festival. I generally budget £100 per day for the 4 of us. £20 each for food plus £5 pd each for 'extras'. We eat pretty well on that & have enough left for the lovely ice creams from the stall in the greenfields & trips to the tiny tea tent for hot chocolate & tea.

A lot of stalls will happily give you an extra plate so you can split a portion of food between 2 kids. I've also found pancakes a good option for my younger two as they are reasonably sized, easy to eat while wandering around & they enjoy them. The happy pancake stall on the main drag between the pyramid stage & the other stage is one of our favourite places to get pancakes. Not expensive, really good quality & a huge range of fillings.
