Thursday evening M5 or A303 to get to west car parks

As a (part time) teacher I cant leave until after school thursday, so if I come M4/M5 would be hitting Bristol area at about 5:30. Any local advice about traffic at that time? I suspect it will be bad

The alternative for me would be to come via A303, then B3151 via Street and Glastonbury.

I really dont want to end up in east car parks as my tent will be to the west.

To be fair by then its all calmed down a bit. If you are worried get off at Burnham on Sea junc 22 M5, go B3139 to Wells, then A39 Glastonbury, and in that way. That road is pretty much deserted.

Are motorways around Bristol busy at rush hOur ..yes

I'd avoid the A303. When it's f**ked, it's completely f**ked.

The M4/M5 around Almondsbury can get a bit snarled up at 5.30, so if it is, what you do is keep going towards Wales, and come off at the M49 junction just before the Second Severn Crossing bridge, then turn south for Avonmouth. That way you avoid the commuter traffic

A friend joined us on Thursday evening last year and he said he didn't encounter any traffic or tailbacks around the site. He did however end up in a car park so far away from the site that I think it was in a different county. I know - I helped him carry his stuff.

Yes - the car park issue does concern me - I am planning on bringing the bare minimum, but it will still be a challenge for me to get from car park to tent

if your coming down the 303 parking in the west car park is madness. The traffic out of the east car parks is soo much better when you're coming out and as someone mentioned by that time you'll be miles away in the west car parks so you'll have to trek about as far.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think that parking in the east will be an even longer walk to my tent which will already be pitched on the west side of the site!
