GF won tickets to IOW

My GF won 2 tickets to the festival, can't believe it! how lucky is she! and how lucky am i too?

She is taking me with her.

Never been to IOW before, whats it like in comparison to Glasto,V and Reading in which i have been.

and whats the situation with stage times/programmes, from the pictures i see people dont seem to have programmes round their neck....

The bumpf that came with the tickets said they were going to put a thing on the website that would work as a clashfinder (and even make suggestions what to see during any gaps you've got)...it aint on there yet!

You can buy programmes there but they aren't lanyards they're just programmes. Or just buy the paper which has a supplement in telling you running orders etc

More relaxed than V, generally better in every way apart from the actual choice of music as all the other fests you mention have several options whereas IOW only has the 1 main stage, the big top, then the acoustic stage. Otherwise you're looking at things like Strongbow tent or hipshaker with cover bands or DJs mostly. There are options, just not as many options to see bands you hear on the radio etc. It gives you a chance to do something different anyway. We much prefer it to V.

Passenger ferry from Southampton is £14, not sure how much it is from Portsmouth but I think it's slightly less. If you go from Portsmouth the terminal is right by the station.

Shuttle bus to the site is a fiver each way I believe.

If tickets aren't camping you'll need to look further afield for accomodation so factor in travel for that too. I expect they'll include it though.

Beer tokens and food prices all about the same as V.

Bit of a noob question so apologies (I haven't been since the first year they relaunched it!). How easy is it to get in the Big Top...do you ever get massive queues waiting to get in?? And whats the queues like in general?? (ie for beer coupons, beer itself..)...
