I tried to access the weather from my phone last year, during the rain one morning, wanted to see how long it would go on for. It was a lost cause on Vodafone, couldn't even get a connection established to weather sites. I didn't try again.

If it does work, it can be useful to check out the short-range forecast, see if you need to take hard-core waterproofs out for the day or not.
